Vivrant's second release of 2021 follows up on the first volume of the label’s new Commune VA series, which featured Swedish godfather of Techno Joel Mull, label boss Jeremy Olander, German virtuoso Sascha Braemer as well as Viggo Dyst, Carl Dern and Lexer. The Stockholm-based label’s 26th release gives us the return of man of the hour Marino Canal in the form of the reimagined 'Vangelis Dreams' EP, Marino’s debut project on Vivrant, featuring remixes from Afterlife standout Coeus, legend in the game Dominik Eulberg and Danish up-and-comers Baime. 

First out the gates is Baime with their reinterpretation of lead track 'Vangelis Dreams'. While maintaining the mystic and tranquil nature of the original, the Danish duo, which has previous releases on Radikon, Watergate and Elements, adds an additional layer of sawtooth bass lines and paranormal FX, creating a grittier and more raw track perfectly fitting for the wee hours of the afters. 

Second in line is Coeus. A staple name in the record bags of Tale of Us, Solomun, Adriatique and Dixon, this Serbian standout has become synonymous with the next wave of Balkan producers. His style of atmospheric, sinister yet melodic productions are a hand-in-glove fit with the vocal elements in 'Calling Me Back', and his contribution brings a dimension of groove to the track and gives it a given spin towards the peak time of your set. 

Last but certainly not last; Dominik Eulberg. A true pioneer and veteran on the scene and an alumni of distinguished imprints in the likes of Cocoon, K7, Traum and Anjunadeep, Dominik has created an epic melodic journey of 'Lost Souls Seeking Comfort'. With a soothing atmosphere that's set to captivate and enchant dance floors and festivals in the summer to come and beyond, we're comfortable saying his remix is a future Vivrant classic.

Up with his debut transmission on Stil vor Talent, Sincopat mastermind AFFKT steps up with a duo of absolute mischief-inducing weapons, codename 'Oie'. Both cuts work in that dichotomic gap between darkness and light, channeling both states' energies and harnessing them to captivating effect. Very much inspired by his early days as a father, the two tracks tap in a distinct repertoire, extrapolating elements common to electro, hip-hop and body music with a straight out playful approach. Combining onslaughts of ankle-snapping breaks with a propulsive EBM thrust, 'King of Ocucu' gets the ball rolling on a truly pumping dynamic, revving up the bass-fuelled engines as Moog 1 synthwaves send us spinning into cosmic orbit. A celebration of life over darkness and gloom. 'Pelailla' pulls out further abrasive breaksy maneuvers and swirling Detroit-style kinetics, mixing that future-facing dash with proper club-focussed traction. Tight and spacious all at once, the track whorls frantically in and out of axis, rallying ravers to join its disjointed dance in a state of astral projection. Filled with contrasts in light and shadow and all the shades in between, Afterlife is thrilled to announce a collaborative release of Mind Against and Aether. 
‘Solaris’ is a melancholic listen in the form of a three track EP that brings in the light, dives in the dark and finally grounds you.
The title track ‘Solaris’ starts off with a poised, hypnotic groove that surges into arpeggiated chords, lighting the way. ‘Eclipse’ drifts off into a svelte bassline working with a darker, driven composition of synths. ‘Event Horizon’ finishes with an immaculately hewn journey, with focus on harmonic developments and whirring polymetrics.

With recent releases for some of the scene’s leading labels, Fideles (aka Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti) are an Italian duo on the rise. Their spellbinding ‘Impressum’ EP is both a fine example of the Fideles sound and exactly in keeping with the direction Tale Of Us are steering their Afterlife label. Inspired by the Ionian sea in Southern Italy, low-pitched basslines and soaring synths give the tracks just the right amount of drama, whilst the rich sound-design allows them to make the most of a big system; something Tale Of Us have put to great use in their sets this year. Take the emotionally-charged title track, the rolling, mechanical drums of ‘Kalotypse’ or the more restrained ‘Hadar’. Across all five tracks Fideles’ character shines through the adventurous melodies and distinctive touch, creating an inspiring next episode of the Afterlife catalogue.
