THE THEATER
At the Mana Contemporary Theater

A performative look at what it means To Stage authentically.  We ordinarily mean "fake" when we say something is "staged."  Tonight we will play with the idea of staging as scheduled intention-setting.  We will "perform" recognizing the relationship of player and audience.

AFTER SCHOOL ORCHESTRA creates music on stage that has never been made before.  We practice the art of discovering music live.  The musicians add blocks, individual ideas, in response to one another, and fit the pieces together through feedback.  As musicians layer additional blocks, the song structure and content grows.  

We think the audience listening is as important as the musicians playing.  The musicians play by listening, just like the audience.  Appreciation can be a powerful instrument. Share everything. Touch everyone.

After School Activities is an artist-led weekly forum for experimental and improvisational music-making.  Every Wednesday, we follow a new structure for interaction and collaboration.  All songs are improvised from scratch or from pre-created elements brought for group exploration.
