Ben the Rules is originally from the Sunshine Coast but made the move to Melbourne in September 2024 to fully immerse himself in the city’s thriving music scene. Ben’s journey with music began as a kid—admittedly a bit of a menace until discovering the magic of sound. On his 8th birthday, Ben’s parents gave him an iPod Shuffle, sparking what would become a lifelong obsession with collecting and loving music. Ever since, music has been a constant, and now in 2025, Ben is channeling years of listening, learning, and loving music into his own creations and performances.

Ben’s sound is a brain dance of liquid metals, slinky grooves, and euphoric rushes—acidic, bouncy, and overflowing with his signature ‘benisms.’ Expect silly sounds, playful lyrics, and wacky song choices. It’s like that perfect bump of ketamine that gently launches you into the kettasphere, keeping things blissful and just on the right side of trippy.

Drawing inspiration from forward-thinking electronic artists like SOPHIE, Arca, and AG Cook, Ben constantly pushes to experiment and evolve. Local legends on the decks also keep him inspired—shoutout to DJ LUV U, Simonetti, and the Baiin twins for shaping his musical journey.

A career highlight so far was jumping on the decks in front of a crowd for the first time on June 26th. Having friends—and so many others—there to support him made it an unforgettable night.

Looking ahead, Ben has plenty of ideas simmering. He’s especially keen to start a fortnightly radio show or podcast, with special guests, DJ sets, and a space for his favourite tracks of the moment—a place to share new obsessions and connect with the community.

Growing up in Melbourne, Betty has been passionate about music from a very young age. Beginning with training and performing in musical theatre, she later explored burlesque dancing and drumming, before finding DJing as her newest form of musical expression. Drawing on all of her creative experiences, her sound blends equal parts sexy and unserious, merging sultry pop tracks with campy disco classics and playful Jersey club edits to create a fun, seductive energy that invites everyone to dance and embrace their own fantasy.

Her eclectic influences range from Donna Summer, Liza Minelli, Dita Von Teese, Phil Collins, Trixie Mattel, to Nile Rodgers, shaping her bold and theatrical style. She has also shared lineups with talented DJs like Jake Casey and Charbinks at Just Entertainment’s Pawn & Co. takeover, an opportunity she felt deeply grateful for.

A career highlight so far has been bringing together DJing and burlesque performance at the Your Shot Main Stage, where she cemented her unique hybrid approach to rave reviews and heartfelt support from the crowd. Proving to herself that this performance style is a niche she can pursue and push even further has been an especially rewarding milestone.

Looking ahead, she has a string of exciting gigs on the horizon, both as a DJ and in her hybrid performance style. She is especially eager to further immerse herself in Melbourne’s queer and sex-positive scene, connecting with vibrant and inspiring communities along the way.
