The chains they thought would hold me down
Have only made His glory known around
Through trials my heart finds its tune
In the dark His light breaks through

Oh what they meant to bind me in
Has become a stage for Him
Through my pain His love is shown
In every tear His kingdom's grown

Every step in the shadow's cold
Reveals a grace that's worth more than gold
My story’s not mine to keep
It's His name that my soul will speak

Let the earth hear the sound of release
Every sorrow turned to peace
What they tried to silence grows
Through the cracks His mercy flows

Songwriter trading Dallas skyscrapers for wide-open skies. After 30 years in the city, I took a leap of faith at the age of 50 to pursue music full-time in my hometown (population 300).
