Minimood boss Voltmar invites Blazej Malinowski to the vinyl-only label’s offshoot Minimood Extra as both artists remix Advanced Dreams’ ‘Blurred Trip’ this March.

Since Minimood’s inception in 2007, the Cologne-based outfit has continued to explore the deeper, dubbier realms of techno, house and minimal, playing host to the likes of CV313, David Hausdorf, Steve O’Sullivan, Luke Hess, Sascha Dive, Delano Smith and many more. Now, Voltmar returns to the label’s subseries Minimood Extra together with his good friend Polish DJ/producer Blazej Malinowski to serve up two individual atmospheric, dub-techno reworks of Russian underground duo Advanced Dreams’ ‘Blurred Trip’ pressed on transparent wax.

Inner Tension chief Blazej Malinowski’s interpretation of the aptly titled ‘Blurred Trip’ creates a complex sonic soundscape as evocative keys, subtle percussion, reverberating basslines and ethereal samples work in harmony. On the flip, Voltmar offers up a chuggy, stripped back reshape as ghostly echoes, tight snares, and a punchy bassline carry this profoundly emotive cut.

Our 2023 kicks off with a Split EP by Forest On Stasys & Vanoni. 

Forest On Stasys opens the release with "Entre Malezas" a track that is characterized for being a downtempo track where the tribal rhythmic grows and the percussion begins to generate hypnosis in constant repetition while a choir pad rises and is the climax of the trance. The story continues with "Rítmica Natural" a minimalist track that retains the tribal vibe, where you can appreciate a rich saturation in the drums giving it a lo-fi aesthetic but keeping depth. A tool designed to measure for the dance floor where a French voice takes center stage and creates a psychedelic atmosphere. 

Vanoni started his side with "Kaiquen" a deep track true to his slow progression style where the combination of noises and a simple bass line captivate you, the drums and textures are very subtle but are in charge of creating the atmosphere together with an oscillating soundscape. "Oshin" ends this chapter, Vanoni's classic sound is reflected in this track, a solid and marked groove together with hypnotic synths which are already a mark of his sound design and give him great personality when it comes to deep techno tracks.

This wonderful collection of tracks is really unique as all pieces are based on one concept which is completely sound design oriented. The idea behind this release series is to have one material or substance which will then be interpreted by the artists. For this very first compilation we chose the material Wood. In the end the artists will also reveal some specific techniques which they used for the production of each track to transform this project also into a skill sharing platform for followers to learn from and get inspired. This work is made out of field recordings that I collected several years ago together with my dear friend Kaf. We were hiking through the forests around Munich, immersing ourselves in the ambiance of a sunny summer afternoon. The scent of the woods, the warm golden sunlight, and the melodies of the birds inspired us to capture the sounds of the forest.

When I settled in Vienna, I rediscovered these recordings and instantly got teleported back to this radiant summer day. Determined to preserve these emotions, I produced a track called "Metamorphosis," symbolising the interplay between cherished memories and newfound experiences.

There is a Buddhist term for the word "Koquukai (虚空界)" .
It means the world of "Shinnyo (真如)", which is the essential world that encompasses and embraces everything, without colour and without form. Everything is in the space of nothingness.

Dycide's Biography

Dycide is a producer / DJ, professional sound designer and visual artist from Munich / Germany. He is playing piano since his early childhood and started producing ambient music as a teenager. He established the Dycide pseudonym in 2014 to release mainly minimalistic deep drum and bass. Slowly he started changing more and more to techno oriented music. Meanwhile he and his close friends founded IO, an audiovisual label, focusing on experimental ambient and deep techno and visual arts. Besides these projects he is working as an interactive sound designer at Impulse Audio Lab, a sound design and software company based in Munich/Germany.

4 years ago, they created their epic Rising Sun EP, which is now followed by their new release, Rising Moon.
