Agarimo, is the most beautiful word
in Galician (Northwest Spain), meaning
in the shelter of that is what Galician
brothers Pablo and Juan have come to
find in Bristol UK. A lifetime together,
through the same schools, university
parties, fights and even sharing the same
girls and bands that ended up with their
latest incarnation Agarimo. The line up
was completed when Marco Tommaseo
joined from Milan, Marcus Jeffrey from
Weston and Mon Valdés from Almeria.
The brothers write their songs together
being Juan the bassist who brings the
tunes layered with rhythms in odd time
signatures and structures and Pablo adds
vocal melody and arrangements. Their
fusion of multicultural heritage delivers
songs in several languages; in an eruptive
experimental punk/meets psychedelic
rock style.
Their debut EP was warmly received
and played on BBC Bristol, RNE3 Spanish
national radio, and being featured in main
Galician newspaper Faro de Vigo, blogs
from UK, Australia and the USA. Since
then, they have been playing in venues
all over Bristol supporting national and
international bands like Melt Your Self
Down, Zun Zun Egui, Dengue Fever.
Festivals like BBC Fringe Festival or the
recent Bristol Psych Festival.
Agarimo’s latest EP – Agarimo Meu –
was recorded by Thomas Bryan at Helios
Studios in Bristol; mixed by David Pye
(Transgressive Producers, Wild Beasts)
and mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago
Mastering. The fluid and intense sounds
of Agarimo, sharpened and accentuated
by this glittering line up of production.
