Over the day’s halted river
behind the night’s decaying stone wall
through the winter’s sweat cloth
in the middle of the bony summer
your eyelashes blacken:
the willows in the meadow of my pain.
To draw the curtains over the blue sky
your navel at the bottom of a limestone quarry
is smoking and making noises
the facets of a die reflect the woods
woods like a rusty key
woods where the hail speaks the truth
woods with feverish hands.
I raise the weed-grown field out of the horizon’s loop
up to the skies patterned with words
I see feathers grow in the sands of deserts
I see seas smile
volcanoes weep
animals dance under the cool lightnings
around the windmill’s eternity.
With a bone key I open the door
to see a hall full of fire
light sparse as the air
I lock the door
stick the bone back to the flesh
and again, from the paths would unravel and hum away 
the cobweb in the middle of which I am standing 
dumb and dim and breathing
as the sparks are cracking
in my smoky windpipe.

I said the door was too narrow
we’d better stay inside
and let just the wind pass the doorway
as a rustle the wind would bring in a times some drumbeats of love
the wind would bring
over the day’s halted river
the wind would bring

I stand, I stand, I stand
and I scatter,
scatter all over the room,
in the chaos of my silence.
I stand and I search
for your features in the cracks of the wall,
for your features in the cracks of the wall.
For long I was standing like that,
with a bone key I open the door
to see a hall full of fire

Bio –
MA in composition with Helena Tulve and Eino Tamberg at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (2006), ERASMUS studies with prof. Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe Higher Music School (2005/2006), master class with Salvatore Sciarrino, international courses – IRCAM, Centre Acanthes etc. Works performed by Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Joey Marijs (Slagwerk Den Haag), Ensemble for New Music Tallinn, Sinfonietta Rīga String Quartet, Ansambel U:, Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, Curious Chamber Players, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra etc. Opera GRID, as a music theatre team project – main prize of Operare 2010 by Berlin Contemporary Opera was premiered in Berlin Kulturbrauerei (2011). “Ma olen suur kuu su silmapiiril” (“I am the big moon on your horizon”) was selected and performed in the 17th edition of the ECCO concert (ECSA) in Brussels by Slagwerk Den Haag (2021).
