I’d been reading The Persian Boy by Mary Renault, the story of Alexander the Great’s relationship with his lead servant. The book mentioned the Greek god Dionysus several times. It was a melodic name to me, so after some research on him I wrote this song about  hedonism and the struggle to maintain a balance between pleasure and sensibility.
