Hello Tyrannosaurus, Meet Tyrannicide [originally By Enter Shikari]

Here be my new EP. 

It’s really less of an EP and more of a single accompanied by 3 b-sides (damn good b-sides though). The single (The Tale Of Winnie The Whale & The Holy Harpoon) was recorded in my school’s studio and is influenced by, believe or not, Death Grips and the soundtrack to Gameboy Advance game Pokemon Fire Red. The 3 b-sides were all recorded at home and edited/produced by my brother and I on Audacity, which surprisingly ended up being a decent program. 

Tracks 2 and 3 might be a bit quieter than the other two as they were files from audacity idk. 

Thanks to my brother, Harry George, for playing piano/synth/drums on these tracks. And also thanks for co-producing on Audacity.

When You Sleep (Originally By My Bloody Valentine)

'Never' is the second album I have released as a solo artist, following 2015's debut 'The Creaky Step'. 

This project began when I started writing songs around the stimulus of 'home', and questions on whether home is a physical place or a state within oneself. In the geographical sense, my home has always been Nailsea, a town half an hour outside Bristol and a grey canvas of normality, equipped with your standard kebabby, park and parents weaving their prams between the 70s sandpaper buildings. Allegedly, it has a population of 30,000, but I, like many, couldn't even hazard a guess at any of my neighbours' names. 

As my writing gathered momentum, so too did the Leave campaign in what was a desperately hateful referendum, the result of which made me think how like Nailsea was to so many other forgotten towns in the UK; in this era of modern Thatcherism, there is no trust, no community, between us small-town citizens, there is only ourselves, our lives and our routines. There is no bigger picture. There is no regard for the next generation or the disadvantaged. There is no need for you to know my name. 

'Never' is about this corpse of community, the faithlessness between us at a time when we need togetherness against the ruling class. It's about the tendency to get trapped and stagnate in these towns. But it is also about those brief moments of euphoria and true contentment to be found amongst the monochrome, in the sense that you find something cool in the bin if you look hard enough. These moments arise in the switching off of streetlights, the trickle of water down a stream, the smile of a friend, and they give us hope that real homeliness can exist in people and the memories you make with them.

This is a poem I wrote for the late Brian Matthews, who's radio show was listened to by my Dad and I almost every week. He was a big part of my Sunday life and he led an incredible, inspiring life.
