Paul Frick’s rework of Aggregat’s „C.R.T.“ is most far from the original as you may expect. Frick goes directly towards the minimalism style. Compared to the original four to the floor, hard, but melodious and danceable track with cello, synths and drums, Frick does not use the natural timbre of the original acoustic instruments, but instead replaces them with synth sounds and synthetic drums.
Through the kick drum you still realize the typical transparent, funky and slightly hollow Paul Frick-Style that leaves every sound space on its own, but combines them to each other creating a completely new and virtuosic sound to a total new thing at a higher level.

Broken Comforts

„GOBLIN“, the fifth and final single before AGGREGAT’s upcoming Debut-Album, used to be called „Goblin trippin’ balls on acid beer doing the train while dragonfly passes by judging him pretty sexy“ but we’re not getting paid by the letter here, so we decided to simplify.

It fits however, the mood of the track, machinelike, driving and storytelling, but also sexy and beautiful behind all the craziness and crankiness. At the start of the track the cello’s sound is sliced into a stuttering pattern, intertwined with the synthesizer, thus rendering it unrecognizable as a cello. The drumsets´ breakbeats exemplify AGGREGAT’s unique style of complexity within a minimalistic and seemingly chilled ambient - the cello transitioning into another searing, shimmering melody. As the song progresses, a half-time groove opens up a room for the harmonies of the 70’s vintage Korg Trident synthesizer. The track’s coda speeds up again, matching the madness of the opening.

The third single „Nails“ from the upcoming debut album „1“ by AGGREGAT goes in directions of dark four-to-the-floor techno. In contrast to that the three musicians built in a free-jazz-metal-thrash-impro-part (not includes in the single edit), then coming back to the strongly punching Big Beat by the drums, where the cello flickers and slices above the bass synths funky groove.
The remix by the Viennese duo OBERST & BUCHNER pulls „Nails“ into their typical style of massive elements masterfully set against a shimmering backdrop of incredibly detailed layers.

HYPOMIMIA, the fourth single from the electronic music band AGGREGAT, features a musical interplay: the main melody is divided up between the bass synthesizer and the electric cello throughout the track.
The breakbeats of the drums are bouncing and danceable, even at times “headbangable”.
The energetic beginning permeates the first half of the track, thereafter reducing intensity into a sonic wall of post-rock cymbal sounds, giving way to a lyric cello-melody which develops into another raving breakbeat section to finish the piece.
AGGREGAT has published an abstract music video of HYPOMIMIA created by Matthias Pfeiffer a.k.a. PUPILLENDRILLER (previous collaborations with Frittenbude, Kalipo, etc.).
