On his first release of 2023 on Tronic, Christian Smith delivered a storming techno track that's straightforward. A hypnotic melodic hook, combined with a powerful groove and an occasional rave siren. Drunken Kong delivered a more clubby remix of the track adding their style to the mix while staying true to the original.

Up next on Kuukou is a slick and highly effective 2-tracker from Montenegro born maestro Ilona Maras. Known for her impassioned approach to production and DJing, Maras has amassed a gleaming back catalogue with highlights including records on Get Physical, Selador and Filth on Acid. Here she neatly tessellates with Kuukou's sound, presenting 2 disparate but equally effective cuts.

'The Poem' opens up with a distinctly dubby tone that advances like a stealthy submarine. A deep, filtered pad creates an oceanic bed while bright, burnished hats and colourful stabs propel an ever-ascending tension. A bold and expressive breakdown sets an eruptive mood at the centre of the track; one that gives way to cascading tones that tumble to entrancing effect. 

'Control D' balances the release with a more sturdy bone structure. The groove strides with bite and urgency as raw, jagged form barbs under a pulsing bass line and razor sharp claps. The track segues through its chapters with captivating ease as it ramps towards another arresting break that allows trippy snap shots of vocals to flicker before tension pops in a masterclass in dance floor control.

With "Corrupt Men“ he brings us a deep, analog driven techno cut with rolling low-end power and a hint of acid. With its raw drum grooves and hypnotic modulation, it’s a perfect tune for those who seek authentic, hardware-crafted techno.

Lautaro Gabioud drops an electrifying techno release through the Unrilis record label, which features two hard-hitting tracks with peak time energy.

Hailing from Argentina, Lautaro Gabioud is an Unrilis regular who is back on the Italian record label with his fourth EP for the imprint. It's an exhilarating release that has explosive drums and tantalising synth lines combined with powerful vocals.

"Keep Moving" has a menacing arpeggio and a hip hop-inspired vocal stretched over a framework of pounding percussion.

Zafer Atabey continues to solidify his presence in the global techno scene, known for explosive releases on EXTIMA, KD RAW, Renesanz, and beyond. A commanding force behind the decks and in the studio, his dark, dynamic sound is unmistakable.

OZBEK, a rising talent from Turkey, has carved out his own identity with acclaimed appearances on Tronic, IAMT, and Jeton Records. This marks another joint effort for the duo following previous signings on Set About and Ballroom Black, where their chemistry was undeniable.

A cerebral counterpart to the title track, “Mindwave” dives into darker, hypnotic terrain. Rolling basslines interlock with eerie atmospherics and syncopated stabs, creating a high-pressure groove with a deep, driving pulse.
