Hailing from Brusque, Brazil, Ricardo Hingst (known artistically as HNGT) is quickly becoming one of the country’s most exciting prospects. Raising his profile as a DJ and producer with performances at D EDGE, Elfortin, Terraza and Surreal, and releases on the likes of Createch and now Victor Ruiz’s VOLTA imprint, HNGT is well on his way to being one of Brazil’s leading electronic names.

HNGT’s debut on VOLTA is an impressive three-tracker showcasing a depth in musicality with a firm grasp on modern techno flavours. Beginning with the title track, ‘Rebel’ dives straight into hard-hitting rhythms and rippling resonance. Firm drums and driving hat grooves pave the way for an onslaught of ethereal- laced melodies embraced by a soulful female vocal hook, blending in and out of atmospheric breakdowns to carve out a stunning opening track.

‘Artificial Awareness’ comes next, bringing racy ominous vibes from the outset. Another impressive display of synth-led techno is on display here, building around gritty electronic textures, glitchy fills and a robotic vox to deliver a darkened peak-time stomper.

‘Future World’ closes the release with a moody interplanetary persona, highlighting more of HNGT’s boundless creativity and writing skills. A constant ebb and flow of climatic builds and potent drops with progressively expansive soundscapes and futuristic nuances throughout to round off a profound debut.

'Dark Underground' is a sinister trip that stands broad shouldered as it marches over the dance floor. Following acclaimed excursions on Hypercolour (‘Needs You EP’) and Will Saul’s Aus Music (‘Child EP’) last year, George FitzGerald is preparing to make his return to his Hotflush home for the first time since 2011. Premiering in FitzGerald’s debut Radio 1 Essential Mix last month as part of the ‘2013’s Future Stars’ series, ‘Thinking Of You’ is scheduled to drop as a Beaport exclusive on 18th March, with full physical release and accompanying tracks to follow in May.
 
Having displayed his innate understanding of how to craft a musical narrative with the Essential Mix, ‘Thinking Of You’ turns to the darker realms of the dance floor imbued with the same kind of precision-tooled grooves, nuanced melodic touch and emotive shades that have garnered him such praise in the past.
 
The last twelve months have been extremely busy for FitzGerald as he continues to capture the attention of industry heads and fans alike with his refined and emotive homegrown club music. Releasing music on his regular home Hotflush, as well as Will Saul’s Aus Music imprint and the acclaimed Hypercolour stable, not to mention his own burgeoning ManMakeMusic imprint, FitzGerald's flourishing discography continues to grow steadily but impeccably.
