Deep and hypnotic techno artist Kontinum steps up for this week's Global Vibe Radio episode.

Initially inspired by the subcultural scene of his hometown of Lübeck, the young artist was strongly influenced by the predominant sound of the Leipzig techno scene. Especially the infamous Institut fuer Zukunft and its hypnotic and dissociative sound significantly formed his distinctive style and quickly paved his way into the local scene.

In 2017 Kontinum co-founded the project @nebulakollektiv and, after organising their first raves, the collective quickly found its way into Leipzig's club scene and managed to establish its own event series at Institut fuer Zukunft.

In addition to managing most of Nebula's musical affairs, Kontinum continues to steadily enhance his own remarkable sound which can already be listened to on his releases on labels such as Circular Limited, Lowless and Agos.

Nørbak’s crucial role in today’s techno environment derives from a strong sense of commitment and hard working attitude which he guides towards his musical passion. The Portuguese artist makes use of a thorough knowledge of classic techno and fuses it with modern sound design, the result of which is a signature sound that has seen worldwide support from tier-1 artists and mammoth labels such as Soma Records, Warm Up Recordings and Mord.

His continued evolution and forward thinking posture can be felt deeply in his debut album ’Flesh to Ashes’, where he seamlessly combines a dancefloor attitude with the experimentalism of IDM, but also at Hayes Collective, a tour-de-force techno label where he is a pivotal member.

Lastly, Artur’s progress and musical prowess have brought with it the opportunity to collaborate with artists he respects, namely Pfirter on ‘Life, Truth, Freedom, Fear’ (out on Mindtrip Music), Lewis Fautzi, for whom he remixed ‘State of Pressure’ (out on Soma Records) and Oscar Mulero.

We're back with another episode of ritual practices this time featuring @be-obscene co-founder and resident @JJVVNN from Kassel. Establishing contemporary techno sound with numerous events in and around Kassel since 2014 he and some friends founded 'obscene', a forward-thinking techno event and podcast series back in 2019 curated with a clear vision of sound, design, and aesthetics. As part of a new generation of local techno artists representing the idea of modern, contemporary techno he's heavily inspired by the likes of Oscar Mulero, Exium, Etapp Kyle, Efdemin, Edit Select & Donato Dozzy. Striving for variability, JVN finds his taste in a broad spectrum of techno ranging from minimalistic groove driven material to a more hypnotizing approach as well as raw and pounding tool-ish techno.
His favorite slot is the opening, which is also the most important in his eyes because it offers the possibility to guide the audience from the beginning to the peak of the evening setting their minds for everything following. To say that Dimi Angélis has been around, is to state the obvious. When during the late nineties techno first got hold in The Netherlands, Dimi was there to help shape the culture that would see it flourish. Promoting raves and warehouse parties in Amsterdam and putting his first needle on a record back when ‘underground’ actually meant something, he has since built a career that spans two decades. His craftsmanship is based on emotion, honesty and the from belief that music has the power to move and educate. Over time his path has taken him everywhere from Berghain and Awakenings to Under Club and Dekmantel. 

Besides playing records, Dimi is an avid producer. After teaming up with Jeroen Search in 2004, the first half of his twenty-odd active years saw him release a string of sought-after EP’s and LP’s on Mission (6277/Axis), Stockholm LTD and their co-owned A&S label. Now, as the beginning of a third decade draws closer, Dimi’s been equally successful in putting out solo music on Mord, Warm Up Recordings, Axis Records, KEY Vinyl, Construct Re- Form, Krill Music, Falling Ethics and his own ANGLS imprint. Much like Dimi's ANGLS is a platform for open and straightforward techno, helping to shape the genre for another two decades to come.
