Following his 3rd release on IAHG titled ‘True Definition’ that came out just two weeks ago, the hugely popular Belgium-based DJ/Producer Ramon Tapia, returns to the Gangstercast series this week for episode 63. 

With tinges of his Latin background lacing his percussion sections and his Dutch/Belgian heritage providing the basis for his hard-grooving Techno template, his sound is one that mixes organic, tribal rhythm and syncopation and electronic machinations to potent effect. 

Ramon first joined I’m A House Gangster in 2013 with his ‘Intense EP’, followed by the massive ‘House Assignment Vol.1’ in 2014, and after providing us with one of the early episodes of the Gangstercast at the start of the series two years ago, we felt the time was right to bring back Ramon, as one of our biggest IAHG players for a second Gangstercast mix.
 
Prepare to hear all 3 original tracks from his latest EP ‘True Definition’ featured within this mix! 

Ramon describes the House Gangster sound as “Boom tchack Tsss Tsss and hey Hooooo Heyyy hooo,”and describing his own IAHG sound as a “jacking, grooving, family affair!”

In Ramon's words, the House Gangster movement is all about "one love, one family" and we can't argue with that!

Nottingham’s Cassio Kohl first burst onto the scene early in 2013 with his debut ‘Broken’ EP on Montreal / L.A. / London based Amadeus Records.

The ‘Broken’ EP and its subsequent remix release received praise from a who’s who of house and the single “Broken” was signed to Breach’s DJ Kicks compilation.

Cassio went on to release a follow up EP on Manuccis Mistress which received Radio One Xtra airplay and again the support of high profile DJ’s. By now his music was being heard in DJ mixes and clubs around Europe including Fabric, London and Space, Ibiza.

2014 saw the release of “Love Prescription”, a single track on a VA compilation signed to Music is Love Records and has just released his 3rd full EP, ‘Let It Be Me’ for Futureboogie. Cassio’s diverse yet always uplifting sound and his attention grabbing productions have resulted in gigs in Germany, Spain, Romania, Italy, Ukraine and all around the UK including Nottingham’s leading club Stealth.

After premiering the deep garage 'Come Together' a few weeks back, we decided to give Cassio a full hour in the mix, in order to showcase his hip housin' style for the Deep House London faithful. So, sit back and enjoy 100 minutes of funk, house, and soul presented exclusively by Cassio Kohl.

"Have you ever been mistreated by someone you love?" asks a clean smooth Afro-American voice in this uplifting, feel-good tune ‘Mistreated’, to which we are going to give a pedestal this Friday afternoon in our Premier section, besides totally grooving to it’s jazzy harmonica tunes at the moment of writing.

One of the men behind it, is the author of an eye flashing, bright-coloured, incredibly angled real life stills, which his Instagram profile is filled with. In the dance music industry, he is recognized by the name Mark Farina. I could not go on but mention, since the this is a new collaboration between this old-school San Franciscoan legend and his likeminded Homero Espinosa, came out really well, should come as no surprise.

The prior one, called 'Work.Groove/Work-A-Pella', is a piece of house music in Adagio with a spice of funk, as we see is typical for this collaboration. Talking about it, the styles of each of the men are so similar, one could not name what could be assigned as an influence of either. Both of them are from San Francisco and both are, one could call, veteran DJ’s. The track is released under the label of Homero himself, who mentioned having admiring Mark’s work for a long time. That comes with no surprise since Mark Farina has been there for a while and is quite defined in his unique style of mixing Jazz, Downtempo and House.

A little bird told me there is more to come from this duo and with no doubt we will be looking forward to it. And I mean, really, Mark Farina, I am starting to follow your Instagram profile right. NOW.
