Rather than referring to the ten protruding appendages on the end of your feet, the “toé”, with an acute accent on the “e”, under which the producer, researcher and DJ Mr. Toé works, is a plant allegedly of the divine type. Taking the name of a plant which is used as an hallucinogen by Amazonian shamans, the expatriate Chilean (now taken root in Colombia) makes “electronic music of the jungle”. An organic fusion of ancestral Afro- and Amerindian-Latin culture, Mr. Toé’s enchanting compositions centre around the sharing and experience of Latin American heritage, considering the “symbiosis of African and Spanish music” which blends to make something uniquely Latinx.

“This session, or ritual, aims to transport us to that mysterious America. Always fighting, through the hand of ancestral and futuristic sounds, it has the objective of generating a hybrid trance that projects us and reconnects us with the forces of mother earth and the cosmos.”

Tomando el nombre de una planta que es utilizada como alucinógeno por los chamanes amazónicos, el expatriado chileno (ahora radicado en Colombia) hace “música electrónica de la selva”. Una fusión orgánica de la cultura ancestral afro y amerindio-latina, las encantadoras composiciones del Sr. Toé se centran en el intercambio y la experiencia de la herencia latinoamericana, considerando la “simbiosis de la música africana y española” que se combinan para hacer algo exclusivamente latino.

Cosmic Waves

Sooner or later we all have to deal with her. She comes to visit us occasionally, because she’s part of our human experience. 

She comes in many forms…

Sometimes she comes as a surprise in an unguarded moment out of nowhere. When something triggered us and she touched our deepest essence in a way no one else can. 

There are those days when sadness envelops us and holds us captive in darkness while we don't understand where she came from. 

She can keep us in a downward spiral for a long time while we desperately seek for the light within and without.
She's there beside us when we’re not feeling content or happy. 
When we feel injustice, despair, guilt, shame..

Sometimes she touches our very existence deeply when a loved one left earth to dissolve in it all, only leaving the memories of them cherished in our hearts. 
The naked truth and understanding that no one gets out of here alive can make us feel even more alive, conscious about our connections and that we better get the most out of it while we're still here. 
Sometimes it is incomprehensible when someone chooses to leave life or is taken away by death brutally. Then she comes with despair, powerlessness and with pain…

She can be tough to handle and to understand when a person we love very much leaves us or rejects us.. or we painfully have to let go of people, old patterns and habits that keeps us from developing in the best version of ourselves. 

Just as a snake grows out of its skin, we also have to shed old beliefs, patterns and habits on time to transform and it can be very painful to go through such darkness  and intense struggles or to let go of an identity you've been holding on for your whole life. 

Sometimes we are misunderstood and all we want is some recognition, respect and understanding. Not being seen can also call upon her.

La Tristesse comes in endless forms… you surely have felt her welling up within you too… It’s a very intense emotion. She can strike us through the heart, through our centre.

“Do not resist the pain, the sadness. Allow her to be there for you. 
Surrender to the grief, despair, fear, loneliness, or whatever form the sorrow takes. 
Witness it without labelling it mentally. Embrace it. Then see how the miracle of surrender transmutes deep suffering into deep peace” (Eckhart Tolle).

These pains you feel are messengers
Listen to them (Rumi).

All emotions fulfill a purpose. We must dis-cover this purpose and take it with us. 
All emotions are temporary, that’s for sure. What you feel today can be dissolved tomorrow. They come and go as the tides of the ocean. Be patient and gentle with yourself and others in times of sorrow.

Sadness is there to soothe us, to comfort us. 
She tells us to stop or slow down and analyze the situation so we can make decisions or we can make time & space for what it is that she touches within us, what wants to be recognized, what wants to be seen, to be felt?
The only way out is through.

We must endure her and look more deeply into her causes.

She's also a very active, vibrant emotion. Maybe this surprises us. 
But the purpose of grief is actually to help us feel strong, alive, and courageous in the face of life's adversities. 
It forces us to stop and focus. So it's normal to feel more tired, slower, and less receptive to everything around us.

In the same way as anger, she forces us to isolate ourselves from the outside world for a while. 
It’s a time that we must look within ourselves so that we know, process and understand what is happening. It's from that place that we can move on, carrying on with the messages and wisdom she brought us.

She can also be shared in connection, in love, in comfort, in safety. Whenever you're ready, share with good people what she has told you. I invite you to share your stories to be able to process them, to accept and love them. Reach out x
