Suction Records is proud to present "Postcards," a new full-length by Skanfrom - his first album since 2002… Skanfrom is Roger Semsroth from Berlin, best known for his  purist minimal techno project Sleeparchive.

Before Sleeparchive, there was Skanfrom… Skanfrom first appeared in the late-90s, releasing limited edition 7"s on his own A.D.S.R. label, part of a small movement of DIY labels influenced by the melodic, experimental electronica output of labels like Rephlex, Skam, and Warp. Skanfrom's music displayed a particular affinity for the lush, melodic electro of Bochum Welt, an early signing to Aphex Twin's Rephlex label; you could practically call Bochum Welt the blueprint for Skanfrom's sound. But there was something a little different about Skanfrom…

Unlike Bochum Welt, who claimed influence from big shiny '80s producers like Trevor Horn and Thomas Dolby, Skanfrom was also listening to a lot of raw synthwave music - the influence of early Depeche Mode (Speak and Spell), Kraftwerk (Radioactivity), and obscure bands like Vice Versa and Ceramic Hello, clearly set Skanfrom apart from his IDM contemporaries.

Skanfrom found a likeminded home in Suction Records, who were releasing records by Solvent and Lowfish with many of the same musical references. In 2002, Skanfrom released his debut album on Suction Records, "Hand Picked Fragments." A lot has changed since 2002, but in Skanfrom world, 2014 is very much the same. "Postcards" is full of the same pure and melodic electro(pop) that made Skanfrom so special to us from the start. As it was in the beginning, Skanfrom produced "Postcards" using little more than his beloved Roland SH-101; this classic vintage monosynth, with it's minimal layout and pure analogue tone, remains the ideal instrument for Skanfrom's enduring, synthetic sound.

Throughout history, musicians and activists have enlisted the power of music to connect us to the pressing issues of our times. The brainchild of physicist Robert Davies, THE CROSSROADS PROJECT comprises two performances, Rising Tide and Emergence, performed by the Fry Street Quartet in multi-disciplinary collaboration.

To form the musical anchor for these performances, The Fry Street Quartet commissioned two composers ― Laura Kaminsky and Libby Larsen ― to each create a musical landscape that speaks to the crisis of climate change and an imminently unsustainable human world…and move the listener toward meaningful response.

Weaving together poetic science lecture, evocative imagery and Kaminsky’s powerful music, CROSSROADS | Rising Tide unfolds in a series of four vignettes ― H20, Bios, Forage, and Societas.  Kaminsky’s four movements of these same names then form a meditative space in which audiences explore connections between the human world and the natural world that envelops us.

Where Rising Tide is about what we know, CROSSROADS | Emergence is about how we respond to this knowledge on an intimate and personal level.  In this performance, the string quartet takes the stage, along with an actor, against a backdrop of projected video. Larsen’s five movements play the role of inner voice as actor and quartet engage in powerful dialogue ― sometimes fanciful, sometimes terrifying, sometimes poignant.

Both Kaminsky’s and Larsen’s scores showcase the Fry Street Quartet’s unique strengths, resulting in a performance that drifts from haunting to uplifting.  Throughout, the music arcs and cascades in step with the flow of nature. On several occasions, the music matches the frenzied pace of change that our planet is experiencing. THE CROSSROADS PROJECT is equal parts contemplative and moving.

Fry Street Quartet – Crossroads "Emergence: II. Reactive"

The second single from BAT's forthcoming debut vinyl LP, Exposure Therapy, "Session 4190" finds the producer submersing his trademark, rough-edged sound into an electroforming bath of flickering chords, distant kicks and heat-treated bass notes.

A vinyl/digital hybrid compilation by Dionysian Mysteries. The label showcases tracks from some of their favourite house producers from around the globe.

First up is Omar Santis & Pistole Pete who pair with their sample based track ‘’Haddock’’.  A shuffling classic, sure to rock any dance floor. Keita Sano delivers his second track on the label titled ‘’How I Feel’’. Using filtered chords, a catchy vocal sample, and bright horns geared for the summer.

Up and comer '@shampoo' brings the heat with his hazy accented acid dancefloor stomper titled ‘’Reina De Hielo’’, which surprises you with a baseline that fills your heart. Dj Aakmael brings his unique deep house style on his track ‘’109’’, a jammy sesh, with funky wonky pianos and those classic Aakmael chords. 

Label head Detach includes two tracks where are exclusively digital. Featuring his very moody track titled ‘’USNEA’’ and dreamy electro track titled ‘’Booty’’ .Finally YS duo return with their second track on Dionysian Mysteries. Their track ‘’Empty’’ which is a digital exclusive is an emotional rollercoaster fitted for any after hour or home listening, bringing you back to the old school electro sound.

Tucked away in a shed in Portland, Best Available Technology continues to cultivate an unmistakable sound grown around a seemingly untiring exploration of the machines that he works with. Across ‘Enginetics & Plasmalterations’ his densely layered sonic design agglutinates with a healthy appreciation for the unplanned or unexpected, forming a polymorphic collection of tracks for the 6th release from 12th Isle. While more traditional means of classification have become increasingly insufficient, it wouldn’t be unfair to suggest that the music on this record bears a mutated resemblance to stuttered Downtempo or the dubbier side of Techno and Bass, connected by way of tonal plasticity through drone-jams and intermittently skewed synth loops.  
         Despite the frustrating limits of language surrounding music, we’re incredibly happy to welcome B.A.T. to the label with this release and would be well enough compacting the overview of it to the near molecular level by borrowing a phrase from the artist himself – Sonics Proper!

E 014 bumps and grinds its way into the Honest Electronics discography with a four track EP from England's AyGeeTee.  

'Answers for Past Meetings' starts with the title track and forces its way into the listeners subconscious with a swinging distorted wall of sound, sounding like Fever Ray stuck in a microwave.  

The EP then continues onto 'Someday, Sometime Late Night Unity.'  A weary violin loop sparks up conversation with distant chiming bells whilst a disorientating bass-line and claps complete the tracks woozy feel, coming over like a walk home after a late night at the pub.  

Two remixes from Honest Electronics regulars Krimson Vial and Panayotis complete the EP.  Krimson Vial's effort takes the title track and drags it through fluorescent paint to redefine it, adding some booty bass and an extra long intro for full effect.  Panayotis also remixes the title track but this time drags it through a field of sludge turning it into a heavy slo-mo horror movie.
