Sravanam Kirtanam Visnoh

īśvaraḥ paramaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ
sac-cid-ānanda-vigrahaḥ
anādir ādir govindaḥ
sarva-kāraṇa-kāraṇam
(Sri Brahma-samhita 5.1)

TRANSLATION
Kṛṣṇa who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal 
blissful spiritual body. He is the origin of all. He has no other origin 
and He is the prime cause of all causes.


śravaṇaṁ kīrtanaṁ viṣṇoḥ
smaraṇaṁ pāda-sevanam
arcanaṁ vandanaṁ dāsyaṁ
sakhyam ātma-nivedanam
(Srimad Bhagavatam 7.5.23)

TRANSLATION
Hearing and chanting about the transcendental holy name, form, qualities, paraphernalia and 
pastimes of Lord Viṣṇu, remembering them, serving the lotus feet of the Lord, offering the 
Lord respectful worship with sixteen types of paraphernalia, offering prayers to the Lord, 
becoming His servant, considering the Lord one's best friend, and surrendering everything 
unto Him (in other words, serving Him with the body, mind and words)—these nine processes 
are accepted as pure devotional service.

Kirtanam

Kirtanam Prelude

dehino 'smin yatha dehe
kaumaram yauvanam jara
tatha dehantara-praptir
dhiras tatra na muhyati
(B.G. 2.13)

TRANSLATION
As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to
youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death.
A self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change.

matra-sparsas tu kaunteya
sitosna-sukha-duhkha-dah
agamapayino 'nityas
tams titiksasva bharata
(B.G. 2.14)

TRANSLATION
O son of Kunti, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress,
and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and
disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense
perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them
without being disturbed.

bahunam janmanam ante
jnanavan mam prapadyate
vasudevah sarvam iti
sa mahatma su-durlabhah
(B.G. 7.19)

TRANSLATION
After many births and deaths, he who is actually in knowledge
surrenders unto Me, knowing Me to be the cause of all causes and all
that is. Such a great soul is very rare.

sarvasya caham hrdi sannivisto
mattah smrtir jnanam apohanam ca
vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyo
vedanta-krd veda-vid eva caham
(B.G. 15.15)

TRANSLATION
I am seated in everyone's heart, and from Me come remembrance,
knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas I am to be known; indeed
I am the compiler of Vedanta, and I am the knower of the Vedas.

man-mana bhava mad-bhakto
mad-yaji mam namaskuru
mam evaisyasi satyam te
pratijane priyo 'si me
(B.G. 18.65)

TRANSLATION
Always think of Me and become My devotee. Worship Me and offer your
homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you
this because you are My very dear friend.

sarva-dharman parityajya
mam ekam saranam vraja
aham tvam sarva-papebhyo
moksayisyami ma sucah
(B.g. 18.66)

TRANSLATION
Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall
deliver you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear.
