The Shaykh in the picture is Shaykh Sayyid Muhammad Suhail al-Khatib from Damascus.

The Shaykh was a soldier in the ottoman army and was from a family of scholars, whose lineage goes back to Imam Abd al-Qadir al-Jaylani, he was a student of Muhaddith al-Akbar Shaykh Badr al-Din al-Hassani and is the father of Shaykh Sayyid Abd al-Aziz al-Khatib.
