Story
Never Were.
In a corner of Bilbao, where the rain caresses the cobblestones like the fingers of a memory, lived Elías, a designer of dreams who never dared to draw Ainhoa's face.
He met her one autumn afternoon, when the wind brought golden leaves, and she asked him for a light to light a cigarette she never smoked. They talked about music, constellations, about what hurts without breaking. They shared coffees, silences, and glances that brushed the border between the everyday and the eternal.
But they were never. They never spoke. They never crossed that invisible threshold where friendship becomes something more. Elías recorded every one of Ainhoa's gestures as if they were notes from a song no one composed. She, perhaps, thought so too. Or perhaps not.
Years passed. Ainhoa ​​went to live in Lyon. Elías continued designing worlds that didn't exist, but every time he drew a silhouette in the rain, it was her. Every time he heard a melody in minor, it was her. Every time someone asked him about his deepest love, he would reply with a sad smile: "It was a love that never was, but that still visits me."
And so, between strokes and storms, Elías learned that there are loves that don't need to be fulfilled to be eternal. That nostalgia, sometimes, is the only witness to what could have been sublime.
