Baptized by the Sound: Episode 8

A couple of months back we brought you the debut of a young French talent, Hoel. He's now back alongside his partner Karl Klaus, under their Dusty Corners guise. Following a debut appearance on the tactfully curated Files Rec. we have the privilege of doing the follow-up honors with 6 tracks that you wouldn't be able to pinpoint in a genre if your life depended on it.

Ghostly vocal snippets, eerie sound FX, syncopated yet groove-filled beats and synths that feel as if you're caught in warm, sweet, non-life threatening mollasses make for an unprecedented listening experience and unforgettable moments on a dancefloor, if you're gutsy enough to pull one of these from under your sleeve at the right moment.

A techno track at 126bpm with excerpts from JFK's inspiring inaugural presidential speech. Deep dubby and rumble sounds in the first half of the track create a moody atmosphere before and energetic vibe shift to an acid bass uptempo close to the song that starts at 03:26 and builds to a climax at 04:27. This song is inspired by the optimism and excitement of the space race in the 1960s.

It won't come as too much of a surprise that our favourite track on XOA's new EP comes in the form of a Byron The Aquarius remix as the young producer has been on fine form recently.
