عباس کیارستمی کسی بود که خیلی از ما شاگردش بودیم. از بقیه «استادان» چیزی یاد نگرفتیم، او هم علاقه‌ای به استاد خطاب شدن نداشت البته. وقتی بقیه داشتند مشکلات جهان را حل می‌کردند او فیلم‌های ساده می‌ساخت و گاهی نصفه‌شب‌ها امکان استفاده از میز تدوین را پیدا می‌کرد که معمولا در اختیار فیلمسازها و سوژه‌های «مهم‌تر» از نعمت‌زاده و دفتر مشق دوستش بود.
آرام و بی‌آزار و بی‌هیاهو کارش را می‌کرد تا سروکارش مثل خیلی از پدران ما به دارو و درمان و بیمارستان کشید و رفت... 
به یاد عباس کیارستمی دو آهنگ از فیلم «طعم گیلاس» بشنوید که هم فیلم و هم آهنگ‌ها از مرگ و زندگی می‌گویند و همینطور فیلم ده که از موسیقی انیمیشن آدم‌برفی استفاده کرده بود. بخش‌هایی از موسیقی خانه دوست کجاست و زیر درختان زیتون و مثل یک عاشق را هم بشنوید
