Red River was inspired by a trip from Texas to a team roping jackpot in Oklahoma with hopes of qualifying for Vegas. One of our heelers was making the trip as well, and as we crossed the Red River into Oklahoma, my dad questioned whether the trip was for the rodeo or the boy—an idea that became the heart of the song.
