Three musical episodes, one journey.

Tech notes: Hermod Plus (utilizing TRS MIDI) - utilizing its generator to create random modulations on a clicky groove to start this intro.

The middle episode grew as I experimented with Hermod's TRS MIDI connectivity, reactivated my ancient Korg Trinity for some atmospheric polyphony, and eventually adding a pattern of sevens to taking the vignette out to the meditative coda. 

Here the inbuilt chord function of the RYK Vector Wave provides the basic drone passed thru a bandpass filter so it appears to fade into the distance and return to the fore. Parts of the drone are simultaneously piped thru a Sarajewo delay by periodic gates as I manually swish the frequency to get that unique echoing sound.

Triptych

I started and abandoned this track consistently during 2024, never finished it, never been sure about it but there's something I do like. The modulations are fun and clever, I think,  smooth and yet surprising and effective. I recorded several guitar takes over the year (each time I had a guitar recording session I gave this a fresh tray). I wanted this to be a "guitar" showcase, but eventually made it a full keyboards+bass+guitar+drums track.
The final guitar is an edit from 3 takes I did on a 6 month period, the one with volume pedal is nice.
So the title and the melodic motif (nicked from "Summer of '42") have been on my "to do" list for a couple of years, the actual performance comes  from 2024.
I took that photo in Costa Rica on February 2020.
