Idlelife is a song about my relationship with procrastination and performance anxiety as a fulltime procrastinator- I mean music producer.

The message of this song is to just begin; whatever you're trying to do. Doing something is better than doing nothing. It doesn't guarantee that inspiration or motivation will strike, but doing something gives you infinite more chances of it striking. And even if you might not end up satisfied with the results, that's ok. Even if it doesn't feel like it at the time, I really believe it counts as practice towards something good.

Nihil is a song about facing the intrusive thought that life is inherently meaningless and insignificant. I think we all sometimes question why we get up in the morning, only to distract ourselves from the thought and go on with our lives. 

But what if I want a satisfying answer this time? If meaning was predetermined, wouldn't that just mean that I wouldn't be able to choose for myself? Fuck that. Maybe it is because that everything is inherently meaningless, that we can make anything meaningful.

Friends and family are meaningful to me. Music is meaningful to me. Even the mundane can be meaningful, like drinking coffee in the morning. Maybe life being inherently meaningless is good.

Maybe the meaning of life is just to live. Meaningfully meaningless lives.

Hey everyone! This song is probably different than what you're used of me. I got inspired by a song that made me feel a certain way, and I wanted to see if I could invoke that same feeling with my own song. That is what started this. I was honestly uncertain if I wanted to release this but I feel like it would be sad if noone could hear this. Making this track was a fun process and I learned a lot along the way. I do hope you enjoy it. Please let me know what you feel and/or think! I'm curious :)

Your Story

This is the beginning of something new. I've been experimenting with new things as you can probably hear in this track. Especially in the 2nd drop where I tried out a rather unorthodox rhythm for the drums. Personally I think it really adds character and emotion to the track. It isn't for everybody but this is who I want to be. I want to be unique and experiment with new things. I don't want to limit myself to one genre or style. That is who I want Ahrix to be.

To me, this track is about having patience and believing in myself. For the past 6 months I've been struggling to find a project that I thought was good enough to be working on. The result is that countless projects have been abandoned because I couldn't get them to sound like what I imagined. As I grew frustrated it became harder and harder to find an idea that I thought was good enough to work on.

Watching other artist struggle with the same thing made me realize that I gave up way too soon and that I let doubt take over before I had the time to shape the project into something that I could enjoy working on. I actually wanted to abandon this very song in it's early stages but I am so glad that I didn't. The finished track is like a beacon of hope to me for when it happens again in the future.

I tried to capture what I felt during that time in this track and I hope that sharing the song and the story behind it can inspire others.
