This may come as a surprise to most of you (even though i havent even posted in nearly 3 months now!) but I've thought long and hard about this over the last couple years and I'm in a place right now where it just doesn't make sense to continue with Dubba Jonny as a project anymore.

This project has been a lot of fun and I've got to do a whole lot of crazy shit I never ever thought would be possible, I've played around the world as a headline act, released with some awesome labels, been on TV and the radio across the world, got several million views on youtube, remixed and worked with some crazy artists, and that's genuinely amazing but things kind of got to a point creatively about a year or 2 ago where what I wanted to write/release and what my fan base/labels etc wanted from me were completely different things. 

I'm now at a point where creatively speaking I feel there's nothing left for Dubba Jonny. I've even tried over the last few months to write one last track to go out with but I honestly can't even find the inspiration to do that, everything I've done over the past couple years has been a compromise between doing something super dark and weird and miserable (as per my general taste in music) and something more commercial or club friendly and it's just become an increasingly unsatisfying experience for me as a whole. 

As well as this, the whole lifestyle that comes with being a DJ doesn't resonate with me anymore. My life used to be about partying as hard as I possibly could and it all fit with that perfectly, these days I dunno if im getting old before my time or its just that I over did it and have lost interest, but it's not for me. The stress of making a living from music has been a bit much for me too, there are people everywhere ready and willing to fuck you at the first opportunity and it can and will happen to anyone, and has happened to me a couple times. I've actually decided to start working again recently and just start making music as a hobby without even giving 2 shits if anyone will ever hear/like/buy/release it and I'm honestly the happiest I've been in years as a result.

At the risk of sounding super cheesy I want to sincerely thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for everything, any fans who've checked out my shit, come to a show or bought my music, any promoters who've booked me, any labels who've released my stuff, any DJ's who've played my stuff out etc etc. without you guys none of this would have happened and I'm so massively grateful I've been able to have this experience. 

This is absolutely 100% NOT the end of the line for me musically, I'm writing a shit tonne of material right now, both as Matchbox Orchestra​ (new single should be coming in the next 2/3 months) that I am really excited about and literally itching to get out there. With a bit of luck I should have some free bits coming out really really soon. As well as that I have Glass Cobra​, a DNB project I am one half of with my good friend Russla. We're currently working out our first release, and have a ridiculous amount of material for this too! I'm even working on a 3rd super weird project as more of a hobby that i'll be sure to post soon, I honestly don't know wether anyone will like it or not though lol! 

Anyway, thanks so much for everything and I really hope you'll follow my new projects, I genuinely believe I'm now writing the best stuff of my life. I also have a fat back log of unreleased dubba jonny tunes I'll give out for free soon once I've sorted through them. 

For now, here's a track that didn't make the album i did with CoMa​ I really liked.

May 29th marks the release of Do Betters fourth single, a wild cross-genre collaboration between Aibel and Ray Monsky.

Featuring Ray Monskys signature Indie-influenced vocal style, the intro lulls you into a false sense of security with warm analogue synth chords, twisting and turning into a dark,dramatic build up. The track then drops into a truly savage trap/dubstep hybrid, chopping and changing between nuero influenced fills and trap breakdowns.

Continuing in a similar vein to his previous release - ‘Dated’ last year, Aibel sets a precedent of releasing creative, multi genre bass music. Watch out for further singles and collaborations to be released later this year on Do Better.

Little something I've been working on recently, like a lot of guys in the scene I've grown tired of making heavy dubstep and have made the decision that this will most likely be my last 'tearout' tune. I'm definitely making plenty more tunes, and plenty of dubstep, just less of the really over the top stuff. 

Anyway, seeing as everyone has been crying all over facebook about Skream's departure from the genre being the death of the whole thing, it seemed like a ridiculously appropriate time to upload this, even if it isnt finished! 

No release plans just yet but I'll work something out!
