Howdy folks, 2019 marked a vintage year for Warm Up, lots of amazing sets were played, endless good times were had. What a joy it's been to play to you all. Thank you.

I always record the sets I play, this is mainly for my own personal post-performance critique. I've recently been listening back to them all and came across one I really enjoyed hearing again so I've decided to share it with you all.

"Døc is a musical project by Irish DJ and producer Darren Doherty. A well established name on the Irish clubbing scene, Døc’s first real experience of dance music happened after he snuck into a nightclub at the tender age of fifteen, instantly falling in love with the tunes, atmosphere and vibes, Doherty promised himself that one day he would return to the club, Privilege, Longford, as a DJ. He then devoted himself to achieving that goal and eventually enjoyed a very successful residency there.

With over twenty year’s worth of experience behind the decks, it’s safe to say that Døc is an artist who has truly mastered his craft. Based in Sligo, the home to clubbing in the west of Ireland, Døc has been controlling crowds in the region with his genre hopping brand of deep, progressive and techy basslines for well over a decade, never failing to lift the energy in a room and create an atmosphere that keeps people coming back and begging for more. Having played in many of Ireland’s biggest and most popular venues, Døc has played a number of international shows, most notably at the Warehouse Project London, Sankeys Ibiza, Eden Ibiza and HI Ibiza, supporting the likes of Danny Howells, Clive Henry and Alex Arnout in the process.

Døc is also an extremely accomplished producer, having been making his own original productions for the last eight year. He has a string of successful releases behind him, both as part of the Døc project and under other aliases. He has had a number of tracks signed to Suro Recordings including his collaboration with Marc de Pulse on the track Birthing Star, released in September 2017. Døc’s music has received support from some real heavy hitters in the industry, including Nick Warren, one of the world’s best known progressive DJs.

Døc currently holds a number of local and international residencies, including slots at Spiral Tree, Longford and appearances with Circle Experience in London and Ibiza. He also often plays guest slots with some of Ireland’s leading club brands in venues up and down the country. With a regular podcast series, Døc-Cast and Døc's Picks, which now has over twenty episodes, it is evident that Doherty is one of the hardest working DJs currently on the Irish scene, and one that is set to be here for many years to come."

"INSEAD 20D has been an incredible journey for me, professionally, personally, and even musically. I’ve had such a crazy opportunity to play a wide variety of genres of music, some of which I never even thought INSEADers would respond to, let alone rave all night to. The openness of you all to explore new styles outside your normal comfort zones with us has been really heart-warming, and I will carry so many fond memories of our gigs with me - I hope we get to play for you all again one day!

This mix follows my INSEAD journey, from the highs of meeting everyone in P1 to the lows of the darker times during the year. Every track I’ve included in this mix is attached to a very specific memory from this year (if you’re interested, feel free to ask me about individual tracks!).

Founder and resident DJ of London’s beloved subterranean community, Warm Up, Aidan Doherty has established himself as a vanguard of a special pocket of sound and space in London’s underground scene, since the movements conception in 2013.

It is his uncompromising, passionate belief in music’s capacity to affect emotional change, together with total emersion in Warm Up’s own particular narrative, eclectic groove that has earned him an avid, loyal following and recognition as one of London’s most respected, sought after names.

From a potent list of warm up sets for the likes of Max Cooper, Stephan Bodzin, Christian Löffler, Joris Voorn and Kollectiv Turmstrasse, to his signature extended closing sets at ‘Warm Up In The Woods’ outdoor summer events, expect above all, transition. A journey.

It is there that you will begin to get quietly subsumed by a dynamic range of deep, melodic techno and electronica coupled with the unique painterly style that flows and bristles through his sets.


For him, community means everything, community is after all, about identifying the people around you with whom you can create a common, passionate cause. It’s about ignoring the conventional wisdom of bland, sometime politics and playing the game by a different set of rules.
