Progressive House Mixes

I recently got an iPad, and so I've been playing about with the Traktor application to see what I can do with it. This is the first time I've tried recording anything with it. Overall, I found it a lot more difficult to get a good result from it than people have been suggesting - the idea that it'll pick records that work well together and do most of the mixing for you is a mistake, though the tempo-matching element is pretty powerful. Finding records that work together is as time-consuming as ever, and I found the software quite limiting in terms of what I could do: if the tempo-matching software doesn't get two records to line up perfectly there doesn't seem to be much you can do to fix that, as far as I can tell, and some regular mp3s bought from beatport simply won't play at all. I got a bit more effects-trigger-happy than usual, since one big plus of the software is that the effects are a real pleasure to play with. And the overall sound quality is better than what I can get from my usual desktop setup - which is not to say it's good, just better. So a mixed experience. Anyway, hope you enjoy the end result, recorded on Topsail Island, NC on 10 July 2013.
