Mutual Rytm welcomes back Swiss DJ/producer Chlär for a bustling, high-octane return as he unveils his latest six-track EP, ‘Intrinsic Drive’. 

Swiss artist and mastering engineer Chlär’s last outing on Mutual Rytm, his ‘Optimized Grooves’ EP, was a stand- out success that made an impact far and wide across the techno realm. It was another big step for the fast-rising producer, who is also a dexterous DJ that plays across three and even four decks in the club. A craftsman of sounds, his take on techno is full throttle and has come on labels like Iceland’s NIX and Stranger’s Self Reflektion imprint. Always looking to improve his sounds, he hits a perfect sweet spot with a fresh and visionary approach across six fresh productions with his ‘Intrinsic Drive’ EP, again showcasing exemplary creative progression in his ever-impressing production skills. 

Up first is ‘Dopamine Rush’, a quickened techno pumper with synths peeling off the straight-ahead drums and locking you into a state of hypnosis. The title track ‘Intrinsic Drive’ is a tightly woven mix of drums, hits and bass that never lets up, while the supple rhythm is overlaid with alien sound designs to up the intensity. ‘For Marco’ takes a heavier path with darkened and more weighty kick drums under eerie synth loops. There is a real swing in the drums of ‘Steady Pace’ as the crisp hits and vocal fragments all up the ante, before ‘Greedy Man’ delivers a tough panel beater with skewed synths and an industrial undertone. Digital bonus ‘May I Dance?’ rounds things out with raw textures and unhinged loops that take you to the heart of a strobe-lit dance floor, shaping up another mighty fine statement of intent from the ever more vital Swiss native.

Emerging Greek artist ANNĒ is back with her latest EP, Chicago 1980, a four-track techno record to be released on CROWD, the forward-thinking Berlin-based label by FJAAK. Known for her deeply-rooted influences from Detroit and 90s-00s techno, ANNĒ delivers a masterclass in driving, hypnotic beats and emotional depth with this new release.

The Chicago 1980 EP features the title track, a pulsating homage to the raw energy of the Chicago scene, blending crisp percussion with hypnotic grooves and dreamy chords, reminiscent of Robert Hood's classics. 'Propeller' keeps the intensity, pushing boundaries with its high-energy rhythms, industrial sounds and relentless bassline. 'Storyteller' pulls listeners into deeper territory, combining intricate layers of sound with a mesmerizing build and dystopian dissonant glimpses. 'Red Bones' rounds up the EP, delivering a dark, atmospheric finish, showcasing ANNĒ’s talent for balancing groovy rhythms with a heavy, dancefloor-ready sound.

Glasgow-born Gary Beck is a primary figure in techno and has been for well over a decade. Dropping seminal underground classics and cultured full-lengths on an array of leading labels, as well as his own BEK Audio imprint, he has also led the way as a revered DJ as his legacy continues to build. Now, adding to his standout ‘Upside Criminal’ EP as well as his well-received track ‘Fold’ on the ‘Federation Of Rytm III’ VA, he returns with a record that has often featured in both his and Mutual Rytm boss SHDW’s sets, stepping out on the label’s Spectra series with a cut that has long been sought-after by those who know.

A spontaneous studio moment turned club weapon, the timeless ‘Hopper’ merges a syncopated disco bassline with subtle nods to funk and classic dancefloor energy. It’s one of those tracks that lingers in your head long after the night ends – a pure embodiment of Beck’s raw energy and production finesse built on an infectious groove full of contrast and character.

Bulgarian synth wizard, hardware genius and tireless innovator KiNK delivered Spectra’s inaugural release, so he lands as the perfect person to remix. His first interpretation stays close to his roots with a house-leaning, slowed- down take that channels warmth and groove in equal measure. On the B2, however, he flips the script with a high-octane fusion of techno and UKG. It’s a peak-time anthem engineered to ignite dancefloors and closes out a standout EP with the third release in the Spectra catalogue.
