The haunting Elwood sets the scene with ominous strings before eerie guitars make way for some bold brass stabs and once again we return to those spooky strings that are the centrepiece of this atmospheric cut.

Having released music under various aliases over the last decade – most famously as Renegades Of Jazz, as well as recent incarnation Dem Juju Poets and his Latin outfit Mankoora – celebrated producer and DJ, David Hanke, has gone back to his blissful electronic roots with his latest project, Keno.

Hanke's love for the early 21st Century downtempo music, as is apparent when you listen to this, his debut under the Keno moniker, entitled Around The Corner. It’s far from simply early ‘noughties’ nostalgia though, as his keen contemporary ear adds a modern touch to the proceedings.

Am 20.04.2018 erscheint bei Melting Pot Music das Album "Keepsakes" des Münchener Beatmachers und Hip-Hop Produzenten https://soundcloud.com/cap-kendricks. Es ist sein drittes Instrumental-Projekt. Das wir ihn hier als Beatmacher und Hip-Hop Produzenten vorstellen hat seinen Grund. Denn Cap Kendricks ist in beiden Welten zu Hause. Seit Jahren baut er Beats, die ohne Rap als eigenständige Songs durchgehen. Atmosphärisch dicht und organisch, gerne ein wenig melancholisch und immer mit diesem Analoggefühl - was gleichzeitig kein Nein zu einer Synthieline oder einer gut temperierten 808 bedeutet.
Genauso gut und gerne arbeitet Cap Kendricks aber auch mit MCs. So lieferte Cap zu einem nicht unwesentlich Teil die Musik zum Werk des jungen Edgar Wassers. Fatoni, Lakmann, Goldroger, Johnny Rakete und Marz flowen ebenfalls gerne über seine Beats und zusammen mit dem Münchener LUX, bildet er ein festes MC - Producer - Gespann.
Seine erste Begegnung mit Hip-Hop fand in der Grundschule statt, wo Cap auf dem Pausenhof den "King of Rap" hörte. Ein weiterer prägender Hip-Hop Moment waren die "36 Chambers".  Klassische Hip-Hop-Sozialisation.

Fragt man ihn nach seinen musikalischen Einflüssen, nennt er Dilla, Easy Mo Bee, Flylo, Madlib, James Blake und die Betty Ford Boys. Aber auch Curtis Mayfield und Fela Kuti. 

Seine eigene Musik nennt Cap Kendricks "genreübegreifend", auch wenn Hip-Hop immer die entscheidende Klammer bildet. Eine Beschreibung, die auch auf "Keepsakes" voll und ganz zutrifft. Auf die Frage nach dem Albumtitel ("Keepsakes" bedeutet auf deutsch: Andenken oder Souvenir) sagt er: "Zu jedem Song des Albums habe ich einen bestimmten Moment oder einen bestimmten Ort vor Augen. "Keepsakes" ist die Sammlung dieser Erinnerungen und Momente".
