The project “frequencies (sound quanta)” represents the audio version of “frequencies (light quanta)”, a sound and light installation commissioned by LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, Gijón, Spain (August – October 2014).

Taking the quantum – the smallest measurable value of energy – as its conceptual basis, the project metaphorically creates relationships between basic quantum physics principles applied to the audiovisual creative process: particles, probabilities, wave/particle duality and discontinuity. Structured around these notions, the composition stems from 100 sound fragments that develop themselves aleatorically, generating an ever expanding yet disruptive form.

The release takes the form of a limited edition of 100 transparent acrylic panels. Each one is laser cut with a unique design, replicating the 100 panels of the physical installation. People who order the release will therefore receive a totally unique art object. The release comes with a card + download code, 100 sound files and a software* (programmed by Ennio Mazzon) allowing to randomly play the soundfiles.

Vancouver based Cloudface has emerged in the last couple of years as someone who is reinvigorating house music with a serene sense of mood. As well as links to Future Times and Black Opal, he has released a hugely sought after 12” on acclaimed Canadian label Mood Hut and works with Max Ravitz as DSR.MR. Born David Reynolds, Cloudface’s music is raw and prickly, yet comes doused in ambient beauty, with emotive pads and tumbling drums countering each other in compelling and comforting ways. 

For his Dekmantel mix, he serves up a sizzling 77 minute selection of own unreleased tracks, some live recordings and special studio jams. It is a great insight into his musical mind and processes that starts in a heavenly, blissful place before slowly drifting into lazy grooves, dubbed out analogue grooves and frosty yet always soul infused beats. The result is a truly wintery yet heart warming listen.

Dedicated to the hermetic element Earth with its relative symbolic number Four, Supervegetale embodies the opening of Dromoscope's Antidigital Series. The short debut album is a direct dive in GRÜN's specific conception of organic sound, a fast sequence of improvised sketches chronologically following the early experiments that gave life to the first GRÜN Machine and to the project itself during March 2012.
Merging strong electrical impulses with field recordings of tactile noises and acoustic piano parts, Supervegetale takes shape as a suite of furious phase-shifting rhythmic rides, chaotic sound environments slightly revealing a natural unstable musicality like momentary regular geometries emerging through the freeform of the living matter.

Without any will to take part at the usual diatribe that counterposes Analog to Digital, the Series name is rather inspired by a specific direction in the musical research of the works involved. Curated, produced and handmade by Daniele De Santis as a systematic start for Dromoscope Editions, the Antidigital Series (AA) takes shape as a sequence of musical portraits depicting the activity of four musicians spontaneously engaged in a keen re-discover of the Analog sphere. Driven by this awakening to the natural science ruling the purest substance of sound, the Series symbolically crystallizes its main structure in the cycle of the four alchemic Elements. Gradually unveiling a four-ways path into a possible modern instrumental dialogue between complex software elaborations and recycled musical technologies, the project explores the cassette media itself as instrument and symbol of the ‘Antidigital’ process.
