Piccadilly Un:Plugged is curated by New Public and a part of Art after Dark commissioned by Art of London , an immersive creative journey and ecofeminist experience by Nelly Ben Hayoun- Stépanian across London’s West End for Art After Dark on 6th, 7th and 8th March 2025.
This installatio is in loving memory of Láwû Makuriye’nt (aka EOBIONT, Mango, half of Mirrored fatality)

Moonbounce or Earth-Moon-Earth (EME) is a technology that allows sending radio signals from one location to another location on Earth, using the Moon as a natural satellite.  It is like DJing with the Moon, the audio signal goes about 3 meter inside the crust of the moon before travelling back to earth picking up the Big Bang static on the way- which gives it this distorted audio, alien and eerie.

Included in this playlist:  the heartbeats of women in Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian’s Armenian family for International Women’s Day; recordings from the city’s streets and institutions produced by multi-instrumentalist Ayse Hassan (of Savages and Esya); and a series of original tracks from Nelly and the University of the Underground's long term collaborators: Massive Attack, The Avalanches (feat. Blood Orange), Pussy Riot, Mirrored Fatality and Moses Boyd. Additionally. newly produced track in collaboration with the late noise artist EOBIONT (Láwû Makuriye’nt), who tragically passed away this week features the heartbeats of Ben Hayoun-Stépanian’s Armenian family.

With special thanks to the team at Jodrell Bank Observatory for their support in making this technological feat happen.

Album number three, conceived in three different studios around the world, by the three-headed love monster which is Buttering Trio.

Our third and new album is the reflection of the sobering evolvement of ourselves. We approached the making of the album with clarity and intention, working on a regular basis with a very specific vision, a vision of an album that ultimately combines the beauty of studio-beat-making and organic songwriting. Unlike our previous albums, that were more on the range of spontaneous intuitive combustions, this album is a matured love child of an ever-awaking threesome of parents. ‘Threesome’ is an album that moves the soul, bounces the body and looks in the eyes.

The album was created in 3 different studios around the world - Trixx Studios in Berlin, Fossil Studios in London and Firehouse Studios in Tel Aviv. All the sessions were driven by an uncompromising sound approach, yet always with the natural twist of noise. The creative process was in liquid form - it could be an intuitive beat making upon which harmonies and lyrics are laid, or it could begin with a well processed harmony to which a rhythm is matched.The song making was always potent with playfulness but the big picture was solid. 

Influenced, as always, by round-the-galaxy rhythms and ideas, from indian ragas thru tribal music to archetypical melodies with a drop of dub, this is definitely a new kind of genre. Or no kind at all. This style represents our music and comes to a perfect extraction in this album. Each song stands for itself as an individual, tells a single complete story, still contributing to the harmony of the whole. The special kind of tension between the single song and the whole musical vision is one that we play with, in our live concerts and in this new album specifically. 

The album owes its’ existence to the uniquely changing relationship between the three of us. A relationship that manifests through communication that allows space and mystery, and is based on the common primal acceptance that nothing stays the same.

Some ultra talented friends helped to make this album - Asaf Shay, Piloni, Yogev Glusman, Yonatan Albalak, Tomer Bar, Raz Olsher and Avi Tuchman.

Our second release and the debut single from Melbourne four piece, Mildlife is finally here! 

Narrowing down the group's style into a genre is almost impossible, as they bond over the desire to push musical boundaries. No strangers to the Melbourne band scene, the four old friends have been drawing crowds through an epic journey at intimate venues and festivals for the best part of the past 4 years. Developing a tight live show bolstered by wild improvisation, the group have left punters itching for their first full length studio album that mines jazz, psych and disco for its irresistible groove.

"The Magnificent Moon" a 9 minute psychedelic disco journey is the opening track taken from Mildlife’s debut LP "Phase" due for release early 2018. Capturing the spirit of the band, this kaleidoscope jam is the interplanetary path between jazz, funk and disco with the perfect amalgamation of cosmic electronics and soulful acoustic instrumentation. 

Tom Shanahan explains its entrancing grip, “The Magnificent Moon feels like the veteran journeyman to the rest of the album. I’m not sure if that’s because it was written first or because it seems to know what it wants and has a more considered direction. It never really second guesses itself except for maybe just before the outro when he realises he may have journeyed too far and his space suit has a hole in it. But then he just jams some gum in the hole and gets on with it anyway.”
