Dancing is an act of resistance


Novéva ‘96 is an Amsterdam-based DJ with roots as a transdisciplinary artist working in soundscape installations that merge audio, visuals, touch, and scent, Novéva approaches DJing as an immersive, sensory practice. Blurring the line between music and environment, transforming the dancefloor into a living installation. Her mixes are sculpted spaces where sound becomes a vessel for connection, reflection, and subtle healing.


At the heart of her work lies the philosophy of Downtempo: slowing down time, prioritizing mood and atmosphere over intensity, and inviting deep listening as much as movement. Through layered blends of Downtempo, Broken Beat, Jazz, Balearic, Dub, House, and Soul, Novéva builds rhythmic rituals that invite bodies to move instinctively, exploring sensuality through our senses.


Influenced by more than a decade of grooving within Amsterdam’s queer club culture and being musically inspired by Café del Mar's way of connecting lounge to the dancefloor, her sets balance the contemplative with the communal. Each mix is a sonic landscape in motion: intimate yet expansive, rooted in bass, texture and rhythm, designed to evoke both presence and escape.


For Novéva, the dancefloor is more than a site for music—their wish is to create a space for reorientation and collective energy. Her sound offers an invitation: to slow down, to listen deeply, to feel the body, striving to rediscover the dancefloor as a space for transformation.
