Label heads Decoder and Jay York return to Toca with their second release, a split EP titled "Distance". This new collection of tracks aims to resonate with home listeners and DJs alike, offering a profound journey that balances introspective depth with dancefloor functionality. 

“Distance” emerges from the spaces between – the physical and creative distances that have shaped the music crafted by the duo for this release. Despite the miles apart due to their intense touring schedules, they have harnessed their separation as a source of inspiration, resulting in an EP that reflects the nature of their circumstances. While each track has its own unique theme, the tracks share a common motif with minimalistic yet emotive layers of sound that invites listeners to delve into more deeper and introspective ideas. Each piece within the EP exemplifies the artists’ ability to create a sonic bridge that serves as an auditory journal of their experiences.

"La creación de las aves," the third release from Andy Martin's own imprint, Diaspora Echoes, takes inspiration from the surrealist vibes of Remedios Varo's artwork. "They Made It Their Own" emerges from the memory of a school takeover, a desire to carve out a liminal space where time could stand still, allowing for complete detachment from the outside world. Within this self-contained realm, the tribe created its own rituals, playing machines in empty classrooms and corridors, reshaping the void into a playground of sound.

In his second full-length effort, Plastique01 expands his dense, pulsating sound with a broader spectrum of textures and colors. Built on obsessive rhythms and hypnotic structures, They Made It Their Own is a testament to both freedom and determination. Yet, while it often drives forward with relentless motion and exuberance, the album also carves out moments for reflection.
Take Glass Gym Club, for example, a brief, two-minute ambient interlude that acts as a palate cleanser, splitting the album in half. Bookending the record are two striking outliers: Climb, a cut-up spoken-word piece that sets the album’s thematic tone, and Love Buzz, an airy, haunted finale that evokes a dissonant symphony of strange, fluttering insects.
The album also boasts two key guest appearances: Ukrainian techno esotericist Stanislav Tolkachev, who injects a sense of doom and tension into the galloping Grooveboxes, and Lady Starlight, whose presence adds a sparkling energy to the vivid, bouncy Octagon Song.

They Made It Their Own is an immersive sonic journey, where hypnotic rhythms and fleeting respites intertwine, shaping a world that unfolds with every listen.
