Palombellissima! è un progetto di rigenerazione del quartiere Palombella che si propone di valorizzare gli aspetti identitari più significativi dell’area, intrecciandone l’eredità e la memoria con le dinamiche urbane presenti e future.

Quartiere protagonista di alcuni tra i più importanti fatti storici che hanno caratterizzato la città di Ancona, oggi la Palombella vive una progressiva perdita di identità, dovuta alla difficile integrazione delle nuove comunità che vi abitano, all’invecchiamento della popolazione storicamente residente e alle scarse occasioni di socializzazione sia tra residenti sia tra essi e il resto della cittadinanza. 

Sperimentando la creatività come strumento di lettura e trasformazione sociale, le attività di Palombellissima! sono pensate per suscitare riflessione e senso di appartenenza nei residenti, ma anche interesse e attrattività da parte della città, contribuendo a far emergere nuovi scenari e prospettive per il futuro.

'A KIND OF TRIBUTE TO JOHN CAGE'

It is a project curated by Francesco Giannico realized during a workshop in Acoustic Ecology  produced by the "LAB LIB" organization in South Italy with the help of italian and international musicians.

The track combines music composed mostly by childrens and boys. They built phisically, a chaotic mini orchestra. The word "chaotic" means that the music is composed with audio samples recorded from unconventional instruments, recycled found objects like plastic bags, pots, toys, etc., played by the orchestra trying to follow the basic idea of the famous video "Water Walk" of John Cage.

Then these sounds were processed through two overdubs: first: through sounds collected during a workshop in acoustic ecology , second: other sub-overdubs , musical contributions of national and international artists.

IL PROGETTO

SOUNDMAP OF YOUR CITY è un progetto curato dal soundesigner e musicista elettroacustico Francesco Giannico per conto dell'Archivio Italiano dei Paesaggi Sonori e grazie all'organizzazione  del Cineclub Canudo . Si è trattato di un workshop in ecologia acustica teso a realizzare la mappa sonora del centro storico della città di Bisceglie e che si è svolto dal 26 al 29 luglio 2012. 

Partendo dal principio introdotto da Raymond Murray Schafer, secondo cui suoni dellʼambiente fin dai primordi della storia dellʼuomo non costituiscono soltanto unʼidentità culturale e sociale, ma possiedono delle valenze di natura cosmica abbiamo cercato di ricostruire il paesaggio sonoro del centro storico biscegliese tentando di prestare attenzione ai keynote sounds , sound signals e soundmarks.

Attraverso la pratica delle soundwalks  gli iscritti al workshop sono stati guidati in un tour nel centro storico di Bisceglie muniti di registratore digitale (zoom h4 e zoomh4n). Il lavoro di campionatura ha riguardato il centro storico e la zona del porto.

Ne è venuto fuori un lavoro composito in cui possono essere riconosciuti certamente alcuni tratti distintivi della piccola cittadina pugliese, come ad esempio: i suoni del porto ed il mercato ittico. Assumono un'altra valenza invece i suoni registrati all'interno del centro storico vero e proprio. Innanzitutto si è posto un piccolo problema di natura tecnica; contrariamente a quanto accaduto per altri progetti di mappatura sonora, le strade del borgo antico sono talvolta così strette ed impervie da non trovare un riferimento visivo sulle mappe di google; benchè localizzate correttamente dal nostro sistema di geolocalizzazione per quanto concerne le coordinate non sono quindi sempre ben visibili da un punto di vista cartografico e questo indubbiamente per la stessa natura del centro storico che avrà molto probabilmente reso difficile se non impossibile ai tecnici di google di mappare fotograficamente i luoghi in oggetto( non è possibile ad esempio sfruttare la modalità street view presente su moltissime altre mappe di google).

L'altro aspetto caratteristico è dettato dal fatto che alcune registrazioni, soprattutto in prossimità delle zone del porto, sono caratterizzate da un forte vento a causa dell'insinuarsi di quest'ultimo all'interno dei vicoli del borgo producendo talvolta come dei fischi e/o dei sibili che diventano più sostenuti in concomitanza della presenza dei piccoli archi che sormontano talvolta le intercapedini murarie degli edifici storici. 

NON SOLO MAPPE SONORE

L'utilizzo dei campioni audio non si è fermato alla realizzazione della mappatura sonora ed è stato esteso un invito anche ad altri artisti di AIPS di contribuire con una traccia musicale alla realizzazione di quelle che vengono definite soundscape compositions . AIPS - Italian Archive Soundscapes is a collective of Italian soundscapers. The "soundscape" definition introduced by R. Murray Schafer is like an "unfinished symphony and without which we are simultaneously shaped the composers, performers and listeners."

The purpose of the group is promoting Soundscapes Culture and italian soundscapers, performers / musicians who compete in live electronics and create visual art installations related to the concept of soundscape composition.
The possibilities are many and have natural ties with contemporary art, mixed media, web 2.0 etc.. Therefore the work of promoting the AIPS moves from one side through an online reporting of all work performed soundscaping in Italy, first proposed by the ad hoc workshops and performance events.

Being part of AIPS is to participate actively in the planning, promotion and realization of moments related to the theme of the soundscape.

SOUNDSCAPE, AN INVISIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE, CONTINUOSLY CHANGING...

 
World Soundscapes are continuosly changing, mainly in large urban areas, especially in big cities. The soundscape is an 'invisible and immaterial cultural heritage',  changing due to disparate factors as the level of human settlement and succession of natural phenomena.

Ecology deals with the relationship between living organisms and their habitats or environments that allow their survival. for each species of living organism we talk about a specific ecology and as we refer to the field of sound perception, we speak of Ecology of Sound; (The term "Acoustic Ecology" is currently still under investigation by way of definition of the discipline and the result compromise between the various researchers, acoustic, soundesigners the globe).

The general deterioration of life on our planet has worsened the quality of human life from the perspective of the soundscape. Some speak of a crisis of the soundscape with several similarities to phenomena as widely known as the extinction of rare species, the shrinking factor of biodiversity among the continents, global pollution.

We identify into this deterioration two 'urgencies': the necessity to improve the quality of human life contrasting so-called phenomena of noise pollution and trying to promote and increase public awareness about it. At the same time, however AIPS studies acoustic changes, positive and negative because there is no doubt about an innate anthropological value and therefore the aesthetics of the soundscape is redefined. AIPS tries to do an outdated snapshot "photo" of this continuos redefinition creating online digital archives and elaborating results from an artistic point of view, scientific, contemporary.

The value of certain ethnomusicological sound archives (purely musical To be honest) needs to be renewed, to give space to new methodologies. AIPS wants from this point of view, recreating the anthropological sense of musicological research connected to the storage through: web 2.0, collaborative work between musicians and researchers throughout the country that is coordinated and supported institutionally.

Creating an archive of the soundscape Italian would be an invaluable asset. Using an oxymoron, the collective soundscapers Italian, wants to give "visibility" to the cultural invisible through the creation of a sound archive of the national landscape, then combine a single site all projects that deal with research and the study of the above, workshops and festivals.

For this reason we need sound designers, or musicians, acousticians, anthropologists and all those interested in the study of the soundscape as the roster of AIPS in order to propose solutions to a useful improvement.
