Airbourne Old Skool Jungle 3 - A.LF. & Ozi Batla June 13th 2004

Airbourne, Sonic Fiction & Rollers Music Artist A.L.F. passed away Suddenly 10 minutes into a performance with LUCIAN on the 13th July 2019 in Sydney Australia.

After being friends for 30+ years and Dj'ing together for 25 years, A.L.F. & LUCIAN had played Back2Back for decades, from the granny flat in Miranda to clubs around Sydney and the East Coast of Australia. They were the closest of friends since school and to help with the grieving process, LUCIAN decided to finish the final Back2Back set they started on the 13th July 2019.

Replicating the actual start of the set and then using only the folder he had selected for the night, this is a deeply personal tribute to A.L.F, it is fitting LUCIAN finished what they started on the night of his passing and 25 years ago.

Taking you across the spectrum of DNB dance-floor bangerz, Liquid DNB, Jungle and early 90's UK Hardcore, you always needed to be prepared for what A.L.F. might play on any given night, he was predictably... unpredictable.

Our first Air Guest Series for 2019 and we are lucky enough to have an exclusive liquid mix from our Greek friend, Medit. Lampros Dee(aka Medit) hailing from the northern surburbs of Athens, started his Dj career back in the 90's from UK. Mostly influenced by jungle, breakbeat but also from other genres such us Reggae/Dub, Funk and Soul. In 2009, he launches the Meditdnb project in his home country Greece, a blogspot dedicated in promoting drum n bass throughout Greece and the Mediterranean. He has gained support from notable artists & producers such as Furney, Mystific, Soul Connection, Innaself, Dan Guidance, Dub Defense and Critycal Dub. He's presenting his own Radio Show "Meditdnb Sessions" broadcasted Live from BlackDuckRadio Greece, Mondays at 21.00 (GMT). His playing style is focused on liquid, atmospheric and soulful drum n bass sounds.

Dj munk on the mix, his  original set crafted for Subsonic Festival 2019, which was postponed due to the bushfire risks in Australia which unfortunately have ravaged millions of hectares of NSW. 

The set was constructed with the festival in mind as a tribute to our brother ALF, who had been asking all of the Airbourne Sonic Fiction crew to put applications in to play, so we could experience it all together. With his untimely passing in July, we never got the chance to all go.  LUCIAN, Ed Gee & munk were to play b2b2b 20mins each.. no fat, right into it and to smash the unsuspecting dancefloor off for A.L.F.

It doesn't seem appropriate to play this at any other event with all the love, thought and energy put into constructing this.. this may have been destined to be kept in the mix vault..

But here it is.. with Life & Vibez Sounds in Memory of ALF coming up on Saturday 22 February @ Kings Cross Hotel.. this is the right time for these vibez to be released

The crew formed in 2002 and have been friends for more than two decades. 

Long before that, they started out as young ravers obsessed by the futuristic sounds of rave, hardcore, garage, jungle and drum & bass, all of which fuelled their passion to DJ, and persistence to grind away and push the sounds of the underground to the Sydney masses.

Airbourne is synonymous with pushing a diverse sound of drum & bass to the Harbour City’s dance floors with their rolling drums and bouncy bass lines. Whether it be feel-good, or get down and dirty style, they have a soundtrack for every occasion. Enticing crowds with their unpredictable musical selection, you never know what to expect, but know it will be good vibes a plenty.

DJ’s A.L.F. (RIP), munk, LUCIAN, Ed Gee, Vice Versa and GUY have been mainstays of the Sydney scene from the clubs, music production, Rollers Music on 2SER Radio and heavily active on SoundCloud with mixes, they are always pushing their own unique style of drum & bass with no fixed subgenre or era.
