Welcome to AIRECS009 and a welcome return to Junkuhn.! It’s hard to believe almost two years have past since we released Berlin based DJ/Producer Junkuhn’s 100 Ways to Die EP. In-between rocking the floors at Berlin and Europe’s best underground parties he’s found time to offer us the The Acid Mouse EP - more heavy hitting dance floor business, this time with a subtle acid flavour.

‘The Mice are Wise’ is a progressive chugger with simple beats and bass line proving devastatingly effective for locking heads down in the groove. Keyboard stabs drift in and out as the track pulses and throbs in all the right places.

Red Robin’s ‘Mice President mix’ injects a healthy steroidal dose in to proceedings, with a solid kick and growling bassline borrowed, and suitably tweaked, from the original. The original keys are put through the grinders as well leaving us with an unstoppable heavy weight monster groove.

Junkuhn’s ‘Her Favourite Cheese’ unleashes a wobbling, bubbly, acid bassline that invokes instant head nodding. As the filters open and close the simple beat pushes the track along, defying the feet to resist a little shuffle on the floor. A real bubbler to get lost in.

Finishing off proceedings sees RC’s ‘Hard Cheese mix’ freak out the warmer climb’s of the original. The acid flavour remains with a clearly darker twist and added percussive elements, whilst the spaced out crystalline atmospheres open out into epic proportions. Prepare for the trip and enjoy the ride…

After a brief break AIRecs returns to 2014 holding true to their genre-breaking mission. In a slight departure from housey roots, Bitobo is the debut release from Fearless Gigantic. 

Born through a love of experimenting, jamming and generally ‘seeing what happens’, Fearless Gigantic is the collaboration between Bassist, Guitarist and Vocalist, Nick Brown and Producer/DJ/Oboist, Matt Esau. 

The Dubble Dub remix, courtesy of Ruff Control, lays down a weightier glitch beat alongside a cut up of the original bass line. The mood grows to an industrial climax, eventually throwing the listener back into the heavy groove, with bubbling electronica blipping and glitching at every turn. 

AIRecs strives to release high quality but also varied and broad output – ‘genre breaking’ we like to think. If this release isn’t going to find a home in your digital bag, please don’t write us off just yet – you might like the next one!

Wavescape once more graces the catalogues of AIRecs with his second release, and this EP is super tight. We couldn’t be happier to have it on board, along side an excellent interpretation of Retropolis from Colin Dale on remix duties.

The title track – Synthetic Pleasures – sees those classic Wavescape thick pads and atmospheres hook up, in perfect harmony, with a bouncy deep house groove. The warm textures and snappy beat will soon have you wrapped up in a particularly pleasant audio nirvana – have a shuffle or sit back and get lost in the journey. We love this track at AIRecs - a real evolution of the Wavescape sound. 

Second up comes Retropolis. A track for the deeper, sophisticated listener, full of captivating production, carefully executed programming, and a musical structure effortlessly melting the mix together. This one will draw you deep into the soundscape you only get with a Wavescape production.  You can easily see why Colin Dale latched on this track for his remix. See next…

Third, and absolutely by no means least, we are massively honoured playing host to a really special remix from Colin Dale. Departing from the Wavescape sound Colin ramps up the groove, strips back the soundscapes, turns up the chunk-o-meter to 11, and delivers a pumping analogue groove, accented with subtle drums and fx dipping and diving around the mix as it builds and pulses – this is a heavy remix that won’t fail to get heads nodding. 

Special thanks to Colin for his superb remix and to Rob Small Mastering for fine job polishing up the release.

Our lucky number seven release, the second from Rough Control, serves up some irresistible dance floor tracks sophisticated enough for the back room, with enough energy for the main floor. Roller Disco Psycho was a long time coming, taking several forms before it felt right. So we hope you enjoy! On remix duties we are more than honoured to feature Mark Ambrose, gracing the AIRecs catalogue with his deep take on RDP. 

We kick off proceedings with Midnight Murder, progressive, looping, techno electronica, with alien sounds punctuating the track. This is set to a backdrop heavy on the pads and atmosphere, constantly building to a lush, enveloping soundscape - the perfect opener for this release. 

Next up, Is This It? We hope so - the most upfront of our mixes on this release. Super heavy bin shaking bass and skipping house beats set the back drop of intricate and complex synth lines weaving through the mix; one for the peak time dance floors with endless energy.

Last and certainly not least is Mark’s Dream mix. Ambrose turns in a deep house monster, primed to hypnotise. Heads down, lost in the music, warm pads sooth the soul and draw you in while the beat progress into a conga driven groove, full of space and movement, sealing the deal. 

As well as running his own successful Crayon imprint, Mark has recorded for other labels such as Force inc, Minifunk records, Mosaic, Solid Goove, Offshoot, Euphoria and others. Mark has have traveled as a DJ around the world playing at many nightclubs including England, Spain, Norway, Croatia, Brazil, U.S.A, Canada, France, Slovenia, Denmark, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Penang and Singapore.

Next up for '15 sees fresh AIRecs label artist, Glen Feasey, take to the stand. Xenon Soul is a 4 track tech house EP of stripped back club grooves. With his minimal production style Glen really brings out the subtle rhythmical elements in all his tracks, locking the listener into simple, yet super tight programming. 

The title track, Xenon Soul, sets the scene with tight production on the beats'n'bass, breaking out to an airy synth theme before hitting us again with the main groove. 

Ice Land follows on a similar vein with a fat bass line and beats working the feet, while freaked out synth lines push the whole affair along nicely. Chunky all the way and surprisingly effective without any sign of a kick!

Quantum thunders in bringing a tribal feel with the 3rd track on this release. Heavy on the percussion and minimal beats, Quantum powers along accented with just the slightest sprinkle of freaky electronica, for good measure. 

To round off the EP Glen deepens things and turns up the glitch-o-meter a notch. Hidden Agenda takes vocal snippets and weaves them, with smooth effect, to more 'Feasey' trademark heavy dance floor programming. 

The Xenon Soul EP is a superb first release from Glen - look out for more of his solid productions over 2015.

Welcome to the first compilation from AIRecs! To celebrate our 2nd birthday we pulled together some of our favourite artists, old and new, to bring you a fresh selection of choice cuts, true to the AIRecs sound and philosophy.

Five tracks spanning the deepest house from new upcoming artist Baba Sikander, Tech House grooves for the floor and head from stalwarts RC and Axlr8te (formally releasing under Junkuhn.), to the raw energy of new addition, Extreme Darkness, and his stripped-back beats. All topped of with an ample serving of divine Detroit flavours from Laurence Reed. 

On this one we’ll let the music do the talking but look out for much more from the featured artists and others as we advance forward into our magic number third year.
