A true DJ to the core, music fanatic, clubber, Berlin born and based, Boris' 20 year career has seen the evolution of dance music of all kind and parties all around the world and his eclectic style reflects just that.

His musical roots reach back to the mid 80s, when Boris moved to New York for four years of musical inspiration thanks to Larry Levan's residency at Paradise Garage. With close connection to Berghain and Panorama Bar dating back to the old Ostgut location in 2000, Boris truly embodies his hometown's fascination for the perpetual evolution of dance music.

As a DJ, he is not exactly keen on refining a certain genre, but rather to push music with a certain twist. Tune in for a full fledged masterclass, from a faultless legend behind the decks.

Imagine growing up near Berlin, getting into dance music, going to Berghain for the first time and getting your mind blown by techno. Then, ten years later, you become a resident DJ at the fabled club. Not many people—any people?—can claim this story, but for Fadi Mohem, what would be so many DJs' dreams became a reality. After getting his 2017 debut 12-inch Reckless in the hands of all the right people in Berlin, Mohem established a bold, bouncy techno sound with releases on Modeselektor's Seilscheibenpfeiler, Ben Klock's Klockworks and FJAAK's SPANDAU20, pretty much the cream of the crop of modern techno.

Now, this year, he's becoming one of Berghain's newest residents, alongside other exciting names like Sedef Adasï and Naty Seres (and Lakuti upstairs at Panorama Bar). As heard on his recent collaborative with Ben Klock, Mohem has modern techno down to a science, thanks to a combination of reverence for the old-school and clever rhythmic touches, like the irresistible snare pattern on "Prefix." His RA Podcast sounds like what you might expect from a new generation of Berghain resident: aerodynamic, heavy and, honestly a little midtempo compared to a lot of other young techno DJs. It's the sound the club has made world-famous, with cuts from Reeko, Heiko Laux and Truncate, plus some special moments from aya, DJ Deeon and Petar Dundov. It takes a certain kind of DJ to get to this hallowed place, and Fadi Mohem deserves it.

Perhaps best-loved for his dynamic take on techno in both his productions and his DJ sets — having been involved and around music for nearly 30 years, @DVS1 is an expert in his field, a true veteran of the scene whose roots extend beyond DJing into grassroots raves and event promotion in his native Minneapolis. 

These days, he continues to push his own limits, getting involved in and starting up projects that fuel his love of music, but also his love of the community he was raised in and helped build. His most recent venture, Aslice, is a software-based platform which proposes a fairer music ecoysystem for DJs and promoters is in its early days, but its concept is bringing up questions for both me and Zak. 

For episode 47, we're exploring the value of art, the definition of success, his own personal perceptions of his worth as an artist.

Bassiani Podcast 134 is straight up techno for amaranthine warehouse nights. At only 26 years old, Tilburg native Julie is already playing alongside the likes of Oscar Mulero, Donato Dozzy, Marcel Dettmann, Wata Igarashi and more. Fomented by a childhood of piano lessons, her shark-like instinct for rhythm fuses together a trippy alloy of deep, exciting and stannic sounds that deftly commands a crowd both online and off. For the former, this latest episode exhibits her skill in full prime, an hour-long dispatch of pummeling mechanical basslines with a sustained tension that’s always skirting the brink.

Vil from Portugal is my guest in Portal Episode 42. The groove dealer is one of the founders and backbone of the Hayes collective and for sure one to follow if you haven’t him on the radar yet. With releases together with his mate Cravo on Klockworks and Be As One, as well as great solo EP’s on Planet Rhythm, Self Reflektion and more he should be in everybody’s record bag if you like groovy techno. So thanks to Vil for this great guest mix.

I recorded a 60 minute mix for the first hour, including „Smoke“ from my upcoming EP on made of Concrete which will be released on the 2nd of September, as well as new material from Deepchord, Skudge and some stuff from my record collection.

Inland’s output today stands for purist and inherently progressive rhythmic work, grounded in the romantic traditions of early Techno yet driven by a constant search for new ground, textures and studio-techniques. His well-rounded artistic profile also includes successfully running the versatile Counterchange label, which he not only uses as a space for his own sound experimentation and pushing his creativity, but also as a platform for building talent. Some of Inland’s most recent projects includes being co-founder of Arch events, which is a series of electro-acoustic ambient/experimental concerts.

In this mix, Inland treats us to his impeccable dance floor energy and gives a glimpse in the future of Counterchange. Including lots of unreleased material by himself and both label mainstays and new faces, it’s certain that he will get you going.
