Shika Shika - the record label without borders or owners - celebrates its first physical format release with ALBURA, the new album of Barrio Lindo, available as a 12” limited edition and in digital format on April 6th.
ALBURA is a portrait of the last three years of touring through Latin America, USA and Europe, that inspired this new phase in the work of Agustín Rivaldo, producer, luthier, and co- founder of Shika Shika Collective.
With its 12 tracks, ALBURA invites the listener to go on a deep and fresh journey into the contemporary sound of Latin American music, accompanied by organic electronica. In the midst of cumbias, sambas, carnavales and folkloric melodies, this record includes collaborations with indispensable referents of the new wave of South American producers who have crossed paths with Barrio Lindo: Jhon Montoya, Ela Minus, Lulacruza, Clara Trucco a.k.a. Wende Wen (Fémina/Weste) y Carrot Green.
This album merges the two universes that coexist in Agustín Rivaldo: the role of producer and the role of a luthier dedicated to traditional South American instruments. In fact, the name ALBURA is a botanical nod to the youngest part of the wood of a tree, and where the most recent growth rings of the trunk are found, at the same time a vital part for luthiers.
During the production process, Rivaldo recorded with instruments that he made himself: charangos, guitars, quenas and marimbas, among others. On the songs Pura danza, Saudade and Intensidad mañanera he uses his own singing voice.

Since WONDERWHEEL Recording's inception in 2004, Moreno Visini aka The Spy from Cairo, has been sending out dub- based electronic music that has created quite a Worldwide following. On his 3rd studio album under the name The Spy from Cairo, he switches his signature instrument, the classical Arabic Oud, to an electronic Oud which also reflects a transition in his sound throughout the album to a more cosmic & electronic dance- floor experience. The title, "Nothing New Under the Sun" reflects his constant call for people to be more united in this World rather than divided. As he says in the liner notes; "As time goes by, people never seem to learn from History, which we see repeating over & over again (and those in power seem to always stir the same old soup). I sincerely hope we wake up and see what really matters in this life and be together as one.... because all is ONE UNDER THE SUN."  

Written, produced, performed & mixed himself, the album also features some of his Brooklyn Gypsies band-mates Fatima Gozlar, Takuya Nakamura & Ilker Ciraci as well as the talents of Maalem (master gnawa musician) Ben Hassan Jaafer of the group Innov Gnawa on vocals. The album starts with a slow Oud intro backed by a heavy 808 kick to satisfy the likes of his growing Worldwide tribal female belly dance community. He then gives us some classic eastern dub with the tunes "Damascus Market Dub" & "Universal." The transition to the club dance-floor is displayed next with the funky cosmic disco based "Sahir" which has been a real hit from Ozora Festival in Hungary to the Symbiosis festival on the West coast USA. "Dub Shaabi" is a rhythm bending North African shaabi meets dub style production featuring Hassan Ben Jaafer on vocals saying "the Gnawa is coming & they bring good, positive, (sweet) things."Prophecy in Motion" & "When Giants Ruled the Earth" both come in with the disco dub beats that translate well with his string instrument melodies & solos. Next, you get a real cosmic electronic trip with "Ya Amar" & "Sirens of the Nile" showing his diverse Organic Grooves roots. Rounding off the album, "Cairo Tripper" drops some heavy mid tempo beats with apreggiating synths as the backbone for more of his top notch Oud playing.

 The Ensemble of Slavonic Ethnic Music “Vedan Kolod” (meaning ‘Prophetic tree’) was created in February 2005 in Siberia, Russia, by Tatyana Naryshkina. In July of 2005 Vedan Kolod won the prize as the best Russian folk band in the International World Music Festival Ustuu-Huree.In the summer of 2007 at the biggest Russian International Ethnic festival Vedan Kolod was the best in the Nomination Ethno-Experiment.Vedan Kolod has recorded two CDs: Plemena (Tribes) and Tanec leshih (The dance of the wood spirits). Vedan Kolod composes its own material, but it is based on recent research and analysis carried out by archaeologists and folklore specialists, interpreting events in ancient, pagan Russia before the coming of Christians coming. Vedan Kolod shows the culture of original Russian traditions and songs.During its history, Vedan Kolod had revived numerous almost forgotten Russian folk instruments – gusli, ocarina, Slavonic drums, Scythian horn, sharkuncy and others, - restored, mastered and reconstructed by musical master Valerii Naryshkin. All these ancient kinds of instruments are used actually in a program of the Ensemble, as well as a low throat style of singing which existed in Ancient Russia. Airtist is a unique music project that creates the atmosphere of electronic dance music with ancient instruments and human voice. The didgeridoo, the Jew's harp and the human beatbox together create an unmatchable soundworld that is so typical to Airtist. The band don't use any electronically produced sound. Only the natural vibration of their instruments is what makes people dance. This music could have been played thousands of years ago the same way.

Since 2007 Airtist have played at the biggest music festivals in Europe, have made people dance in more than 20 countries at world-music events, electronic parties, music clubs and various occasions and fests. First studio album, Wireless came out in 2007, in 2013 the band has released a live album, On Air featuring MC Fantom from Subculture Revolution. Their second studio album is due late 2013.
The band uses the most ancient instruments, air and the energy given by the Nature to create music that brings people to a deliberating dance and let their spirit fly. It's important for Airtist to live in harmony with each other and the nature and they keep this in focus not only in their music but also in their lives.
