Radio Show 061 w/ @skor72 (VARY, Leipzig)

Über diese Folge sollten sich alle besonders freuen, die unsere Show seit den Anfängen verfolgen, als es bei uns noch hauptsächlich um Rap ging. Denn es geht um Writing und Graffiti, um Vinyl und Breakdance, sogar um die vier Elemente des Hip-Hop!

Aber es geht auch um so viel mehr, denn wir haben uns mit Pascal aka Skor72 über seinen Werdegang, seinen Plattenladen @vary_leipzig und seinen kreativen Output unterhalten. Er hat uns erzählt, wie er vom Writing zur Kalligraphie, aber auch vom Hip-Hop zur elektronischen Musik aus Detroit kam und wie letztendlich der Plattenladen in Leipzig entstanden ist. Außerdem sprachen wir über ein wachsendes politisches Bewusstsein, die letzte Party vor der Pandemie und ein Wochenende mit zwei All-Nightern.

Alongside @djyum-yum he is a curator of the Leipzig-based series of events Aeolian, which has committed itselfs to gather their favourite music-nerds for this purpose.

Air Waves Guest Mix 004 - @najibmusic (Brussels, Belgium)

Volume four of our guest mix series comes from the multidisciplinary Moroccan artist NAJIB ن ج ي ب who is currently based in Brussels.

As DJ and Producer he is interested in genres that bring "chaos" by using a variety of rhythms permeating different cultures and by confronting them with each other. In his music he aims to formate a stability in chaos and to create a dystopian vision of his world allowing a continuous questioning of himself. Glitch, multi-textured sounds and deconstructed music elements are always present in his compositions.

After playing mixes on @threadsradio (Tottenham), @kioskradio (Brussels) and @lyl_radio (Lyon, Paris, Brussels) in the last months, he now curates his own monthly show on @ma3azef Radio راديو معازف.

His debut EP will be released on the Leipzig Label @human_le very soon.

Die Leipzigerin Amy aka ttyfal ist einer dieser Vollblut Clubkultur Aktivistinnen — Neben dem Auflegen organisiert Sie eigene Veranstaltungen, zum Beispiel über @inputifz, schreibt Rezensionen, Ausgehtipps und über die Clubkultur bei @frohfroh und seit neustem produziert sie auch eigene Tracks.

Im Interview haben wir darüber gesprochen wie Sie über Outdoor Raves und befreundete DJs zum Auflegen kam, wie ein Track vom Label @csvoyager ihren Musikgeschmack geprägt hat und darüber was das auflegen mit Vinyl so besonders macht. Und sie hat uns erzählt wie aus einer Ableton-Lern-Session ihr erster Track mit @chocolategrinder entstanden ist, der jetzt vor zwei Wochen auf der @vaertism-leipzig Compilation erschienen ist.

Radio Show 065 w/ @transluciddream (Myriad Records / mjut, Leipzig)

Diesmal haben wir uns mit Markus aka Translucid unter anderem über das Produzieren von Musik und sein Verständnis von Kreativität, über seine musikalische Entwicklung und das Auflegen diverser Genres, aber auch über seine Rolle im Leipziger Club @mjutme gesprochen.

Er hat uns erzählt, wie das Jammen mit seinem Vater und das Jugendorchester ihn früh geprägt haben, wie er dann mit Cubase angefangen hat Tracks zu covern und wie all das ihm heute das Produzieren erleichtert. Es ging zudem um Field Recordings, die Entstehung seines Debüt-Albums und des Labels @myriad00 Records und um luzide Träume und Chaosmagie.

Außerdem hat er uns erzählt wie er vor einigen Jahren per Zufall bei der Entstehung des mjut dabei war und was von dem Club in Zukunft zu erwarten ist. Dazu gibt's unreleaste Musik von ihm, Tracks von Fin Glaeser and @mruffing die bald auf Myriad Records erscheinen und ein Track von @deliansound.

Air Waves Guest Mix 005 - @yung_raj (Hyderabad, India)

Volume five of our guest mix series comes from the very talented indian artist Yung.Raj and is definitely one for all of our uptempo club music fans. 

Despite the "Yung" in his name Yung.Raj is far from new to all of this. With over 100+ released tracks ranging from Lo-Fi, Beats and House to various fast paced club sounds, he's not only incredibly talented but also one of the hardest working. 

Growing up in Hyderabad, he cut his teeth as a beatboxer, producer and DJ and is now considered to be one of the most interesting talents coming out of the country, playing at almost all the big festivals.

After releasing tracks and remixes via @krunkkulture (Mumbai) and @sampledeliveryrecords (Paris) and two EPs on @4ncurrency and @gutterfunk (Bristol) in the last months, we are very happy to have him for a mix full of Footwork, Jungle, D'n'B an other 160+ heat.

The Bulgarian-born, Perth-based DJ and producer is one half of @bundemsound and co-founder of @thirddegreerecords. Air Waves Guest Mix 007 - @rassaaan(Brasília, Brazil)

Since discovering his 'Don't Hesitat EP' at @sleeveplusplus last year, we've been following his releases closely, which is why we're thrilled to introduce him as our latest guest in our mix series.

He is a brazilian DJ, producer and co-founded of the independent record label and party @nicendeadly, plus he has a monthly residency on @komunal_radio and is a part of @confronto-soundsystem.

As a passionate vinyl collector and enthusiast of bass and sound system culture, he is very much interested in the influence and the development of various genres of electronic music. This reflects in his selection, but also in his productions, in which he draws from sounds of the past and present, combining all these elements without limiting himself to a specific genre.

After releases via @yellowislandrecords, @bruta4200 and @zonaexp, he released his first record last year on the Parisian label @deepindisintl including a remix by @bailey-ibbs.

For our mix, he took a little tour through everything Breakbeat, from funky Garage and lots of wobbly Basslines to all kinds of faster Breaks, some more spheric, others definitely gun-finger-ready — With unreleased tracks from @mani_festo x @denhamaudio, @piankiknaip, @static-structures and himself.

Guest Mix 007 - Rassan

Next guest mix by @bleachld from Bern, Switzerland.

Having been a part of the scene for over 10 years, @bleachld first appeared as a DJ in 2019 when she began doing mixes for @radiobollwerk. After gaining recognition for her selection, gigs followed and she eventually started running her own club night together with Dubtopia founder @phrex at @kapitelbollwerkbern. Klubtopia is the little unruly sister of the legendary event series and is all about bass music.

Her mix is a beautiful hour-long journey through all the darker spheres of the bass music universe.

It opens with ethereal soundscapes, to then discover different melodies and drum patterns, while a wobbly bass pops up every now and then to remind you where the trip is going. Diving deeper into the experimental and futuristic approach of sub-focused music, you will hear Hard Drum and Baile Funk mutations, driving Breakbeats and of course some serious Dubstep weapons to finish things off.

Seit gestern findet in Leipzig und vor allem im Internet das interdisziplinäre @balance-festival statt. Wir hatten dazu Sarah Ulrich (@oh-gal)und Jonas Holfeld (@stanley-schmidt-music) vom Orga-Team des Festivals zu Gast und haben mit Ihnen über das Programm, über das diesjährige Motto »Tender Squads« und über die aktuelle Krise der Club- und Kulturszene gesprochen.

Dazu haben die beiden natürlich auch Musik von Künstler*Innen des Festivals mitgebracht - einige Tracks davon werden am Sonntag exklusiv auf dem ersten Balance-Festival-Sampler releast.

Ghettotech is on the rise and so is DJ Mell G.

The last few months she was busy as hell releasing tracks on @bemorechildish(London), @freitanzplatten (Berlin), @planetariasoundsystem (Barcelona), @lowincomesquad (Croatia) and @urbanstghetto (Sankt Petersburg), djing live and on the radio for @thedeadhype (Berlin) and @radiorasclat (Kassel) and self-releasing her Debut-EP "Booty Fabulous". And this is just a selection.

Before moving to Hamburg just recently she had her home base in Marburg near Frankfurt where she and her crew had build up a little but very vibrant scene of creatives.

Christoff Riedel and Tomtom Tom played a energetic and very diverse 3-hour b2b of contemporay club music with lots of fun edits and some unreleased own productions and Alexander Turovsky created visuals that transported the two djs in other dimensions.

DJ Night 010 w/ @neelie-3 (oh mochi / root collective, Halle)

Neelie was influenced by beat tapes, vaporwave, low-fidelity hiphop and later dived into uk bass and future funk. She started beeing active in the creative scene in Gießen near Frankfurt and then founded her own project oh mochi after relocating to Halle. With her various akas (her other music persona is @colluvisol) and her projects she is pushing contemporary (web) culture online and with events in Halle and Leipzig. After one of the rare live gig in 2020 at the @tarmac-festival, she recently expanded her international connections by placing guest mixes on @noodsradio, Foundation FM and @earfulofwax.
