I've had a lot on my mind the last few weeks. I've taken to Instagram a couple times to share a few of my thoughts as I think it's important for us to process our personal experiences with racism as well as acknowledge and share stories of racism. I really do believe that as we have more conversations about it and get educated, we'll be able to make change to the systems that perpetuate racial inequity in our country.

This time around, I decided to create a song as I feel like I'm able to process better and communicate better through music than Instagram stories lol. It's not a comprehensive "touch on every facet of the issue" song, but just a look into my heart as I reflect on how we can all be better. We can all be dope!

Look, I've been loving Tate McRae ever since this quarantine started, so when she put out a song about what it feels like to be emotionally overwhelmed and to be told to just "not be sad" or "get over it", it really struck a chord with me.

I decided to make a few tweaks and put together this short cover/remix just trying to add a bit to the conversation.

Our emotions are real, and sometimes they get pretty crazy. It's easy to tell someone going through something "don't be sad" or "it's not that bad" or "why are you complaining". It's much harder to sit with them and listen in hopes of understanding what they're truly going through and working through it together.

Let's reclaim community, compassion, and empathy!
