Ages of the beasts are completely out of reach
But we can dream a while in our high rise homes
Looking down the sea and those colossal bones
Airplanes look so small as they circle round
Mighty whale ancestors of the human kind
In imagination they sail back to the deep
Calling into eons that put them to sleep

Sending out topographical fingers

Old discoveries pale in comparison with
What we’ve found today in tropical heat
Living fine examples that we never thought real
Resting on the platform of silvery reefs
Gathering their powers in the ocean’s depth
Their bodies shine like columns of our ancient past
In imagination they are singing for us
Calling into eons that turned them to dust

Every tribe has worshiped their aquatic gods
Building marble altars in their bamboo huts
And when our expedition has concluded all its work
With an exclamation mark that says read between the words
We set out for new missions in the soaring sun
Leaving monsters of the sea where their past belongs
But in imagination they are future’s lords

The musician's hand is already wrinkled... tight frames dispersed like clouds
the god's skeleton no longer groans... it no longer girds the skin so tightly
and although she prays to him, and although the song strikes a completely different tone
no one hears it, no one sees it
it's a quiet, very quiet voice...

The musician's temple is already dusty... gray like a workman's ball
loose mandolin strings, ruffled as hair and coat
and even though he spends as much tears as he can, and even though the song sinks lower and lower every day
no one hears it, no one sees it
the god's skeleton is quietly passing away...

The musician sighs, grabs his comb... combs his lakes
and although there is still no water in them
sweat fills their spaces quite tightly...
sand is sand, string is string, God's will

Kaufmann is a folk troubadour, minstrel and a harbinger of new sounds and thought. There is a theme that runs through this body of work, a method to his madness. All of these songs are a journey. So take the trip and give a listen. Nobody knows it but AJ Kaufmann is a national treasure of Poland."
