Returning for a 24th appearance on the Meanwhile imprint he carefully curates with his fellow countryman, GMJ delivers yet another slice of progressive heaven with “Feel Inside / Living Memory”.

As we approach the end of the year, GMJ is in reflective mood for his final original EP of 2024. After a stellar year which has seen a steady flow of 24-carat gold music on such celebrated imprints as Balance Music, Vapour Recordings, Proton Music and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, the Melbourne-resident continues to deliver equally stunning new music on the Meanwhile and Meanwhile Horizons imprints he owns with production partner, Matter.

The opener finds “Feel Inside” providing a magical rhythmic backdrop that bristles with vibrancy alongside a cavernous sub-bassline groove. Chock full of bubbling dancefloor dynamism, a metallically cadenced synth pattern filters in and out of prominence while a looped vocal phrase repeats over the rhythmic collage before revealing itself more fully at the breakdown. Building once more, the hefty beat drops back into the rolling percussive hi-hats and metallic synth phrase to create a storming club-friendly colossus.

Written when his grandfather passed away earlier in the year, “Living Memory” serves as a tribute to a life well-lived and a much-loved character. As Gavin so eloquently puts it, “he is always alive as an inspiration in my memories for both his musical prowess and the person he was.” Redolent in the same rolling rhythmic backdrop as its partner track, immaculately placed woodblock percussion adds to the driving vitality. Providing easy juxtaposition, a beautiful piano sequence is soon introduced which suffuses the track with a contemplative air and effortless beauty. Waxing and waning fluently over its near 9-minute timeframe, a complementary synth motif builds through the breakdown before breathy vox pads and the earlier piano provide a latticework of sounds that find GMJ in majestic form with a perfect sonic tribute.

Hitting another high watermark with two powerful original works, GMJ is at his peerless best with “Feel Inside / Living Memory”.

Tomás García is a DJ and electronic music producer from Mendoza, Argentina. From an early age, Tomás was drawn to electronic sounds, a fascination that would soon become a passion to which he would dedicate much of his life. Influenced by the big names in electronic music, he began to explore and experiment with the rhythms and sounds that defined the genre, establishing a unique connection with music from his early years.
In 2022, Tomás took an important step in his career by making his debut on several renowned record labels. His productions, full of creativity and freshness, quickly began to attract attention in the global electronic scene. Throughout the year, his tracks received support from major international DJs and producers, including influential figures such as Hernán Cattáneo, Mariano Mellino, Guy J, and Sahar Z, among others. This support from highly prestigious artists allowed his music to reach increasingly wider audiences, consolidating his name as one of the most promising producers in the region.
Throughout his career, Tomás has released music on highly prestigious labels such as Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Proportion, and Genesis Music, among others. Each of these releases has been a showcase of his ability to fuse emotional and sophisticated sounds, with a unique focus on atmosphere and musical evolution.
The year 2024 was an important milestone in his career when he debuted on the prestigious label Proportion, run by the renowned Dmitry Molosh. The latest installment of our free download series welcomes Henri Hurtig aka Cid Inc back for his third appearance. 2019 proved to be another year of successes for the Finnish artist and Replug label boss. The March release of his well received ‘Via Karela’ EP got the year underway, setting the stage for contributions to Hernan Catteneo’s ‘Balance Presents Sunsetstrip’ compilation and the Armadillo Records ‘Fields, Vol. 1’ collection. October then saw Henri commemorate Replug’s ten-year anniversary with the Orsen collaboration ‘Ten’, before returning to Guy J’s Lost and Found Records with a chart-topping remix of Kasper Koman’s ‘Hi’ to round the year out in style. The beginning of 2020 has been equally inspired, with remixes for Beat Boutique and Einmusika, along with the March release of his acclaimed ‘Citadel’ EP. Having delivered his remake of James Holden’s ‘A Break In The Clouds’ to our series in 2018, Cid Inc now returns with his much requested edit of The Beloved ‘Sweet Harmony’ (Kosmas Epsilon & Zorz 'Northern People' Bootleg Mix). Released in 2004 as a white label only, the track proved impactful, earning play from a broad spectrum of A-list Djs and firmly etching its place in the history of progressive music. Long a favourite of Cid Inc, the Replug boss took to re-editing the classic last year, resulting in months of play from Hernan Cattaneo. Now after much demand we’re happy to offer the track as an exclusive free download. We hope you enjoy it.
