Patrick Schulze (@patrick-schulze) from Bonn recently released a new production: “Story About You”. The young music producer, now living in Hamburg, Germany, published the track more than a month ago and now provides it as a free download via trndmusik.

trndmusik: How did you get the idea for producing “Story About You”?

Patrick Schulze: It happened the same way as with most of my tracks: I was in a quite melancholic mood. Those are usually the moments when I’m most productive in producing music. I never follow a strict scheme. I just allow myself to be lead by my emotions. Maybe that’s why my tracks always sound like they could collapse at any second but then come back even stronger. That’s not ill-intentioned: I regard my work as something positive. I’m not about having to release a stream of tracks, but scarcity value! So that’s basically why my tracks are near and dear to me. So is “Story About You”.

A piece of Electronic Dance Music is usually described as a production. However, in the case of Seth Schwarz the word composition seems to be just much more appropriate. For many years the multi- instrumentalist dedicated his life to classical music – and that is very noticeable when listening to his highly melodic arrangements. Together with various talents from the 3000Grad environment he created an EP that draws its power from a unique feeling of multidimensional complexity. The interplay with Mollono.Bass is an ever-growing stream of escalating melodies and ecstatic filter sweeps that leaves the dance floor in blissful rapture and the DJ with the question how to keep up this extremely high level of energy. The epic soundscape of Dole & Kom provides the perfect setting for weightless violin entries, and the musical excursion with Bebetta leads through a glistening downpour of hi-hats to a mystic horizon.

Wenn es um elektronische Tanzmusik geht, ist normalerweise von Produktionen die Rede. Aber im Falle von Seth Schwarz ist Komposition einfach die bessere Beschreibung. Der Multi-Instrumentalist hat sich viele Jahre mit klassischer Musik beschäftigt, und das ist in seinem melodischen Sound nicht zu überhören. Zusammen mit verschiedenen Talenten aus dem 3000Grad Umfeld ist eine EP entstanden, die ihre Schubkraft und Eingängigkeit einer faszinierenden Vielschichtigkeit verdankt. Die ausufernden Melodien und ekstatischen Filtereskaparden, welche sich im Wechselspiel mit Mollono.Bass entwickeln, konfrontieren die Tanzfläche mit glückseeliger Selbstvergessenheit und den DJ mit der Frage, wie er da noch einen draufsetzen kann. Die epische Klangwelt von Dole & Kom stellt sich als perfekte Umgebung für schwerelose Violin-Einsätze heraus.
