Loek Frey is a producer, DJ and live artist from the Netherlands whose work defies easy categorization. Blurring the lines between techno, experimental, IDM, and ambient, he crafts a sound that is at the very forefront of avant-garde electronics. His exceptional releases on Omen Wapta & his own OQAD perfectly demonstrate his mind-bending expertise and finesse in the studio. For MNMT 494 Loek Frey pilots a descent into uncharted sonic territories: a transmission from a haunted and murky alien world, unfolding as a piece of cinematic sound design for a forgotten sci-fi landscape. Hi-tech fragments, ghostly echoes and unconventional grooves weave through the dense atmosphere creating an ominous yet deeply alluring hypnotic pull. A rarefied dimension where leftfield sonorities linger in contemplative suspension while deep, deconstructed rhythms shift like subtle currents. Each fragment opens into an intricate inner resonance. SEIYA is a project conceived to fuse musical vision, aesthetic intent, and immersive exploration into a singular experiential expression.
DJ, sound designer, and founding member of the Milan-based multidisciplinary collective Endless Interferenza, he brings this vision to life through avant-garde sonic design.

Tracing altered currents of off-centre electronics, meditative pulses, and shimmering minimal textures, his sonic landscapes shift fluidly with context — from post-ambient, glitch-driven live explorations to dark, unrelenting DJ sets.

This is a recording from my last set at KWIA. The set took shape after a night visit to a Berlin lake at the end of summer. The place felt contained and alive, like a closed system where small details mattered. Tiny sounds sat in different registers, subtle movement in the dark, layers interacting without ever fully revealing themselves. I carried that sensibility into the set, focusing on slow shifts, accumulation, and fine detail rather than big gestures. It was recorded on an old Tascam, so a soft hiss runs throughout. I kept it intentionally, as a thin framing layer, a kind of faux field recording presence that feels more like humidity or shadow than noise.
