MoDem Festival‬ in Croatia is widely considered one of the best, and most important, festivals on the psytrance calendar. It’s influence on the festival scene cannot be understated. When I started making this music, I promised myself that, before I was 30, I wanted to play on the Hive stage. Well, 5 days before my 30th birthday, I had the honour of doing just that. It did not disappoint, and it was the best dancefloor I have ever had the privilege of experiencing.

I decided early on that this was where I was going to debut my new album (forthcoming soon on Bom Shanka Music) and record the entire set. So, here it is – the full video of my set on Thursday 8th August 13:30-15:00 on the Hive.

Thank you to everyone that danced, everyone that filmed and everyone that gave me emotional support in the stress of finishing the tracks before the gig! Purple Hexagon Records is proud to present a fresh set from their new label DJ from Spain, DESIGNA. His passion and love for electronic music has driven him to create culture and movement in the Psytrance scene in Spain, consolidating himself as a reference. Today, he focuses on promotion, event organization and continues as director of Skizodelic Mind, a vibrant and recognized collective in the music scene. José Hermosín, known artistically as DESIGNA and Akash, was born in Seville in 1980 and has been involved in electronic music since a young age.  His first project in electronic music was JXtorsion before discovering Psytrance in 2006, leading him to perform at parties across Andalusia starting in 2007. In 2008, he co-founded the Skizodelic Mind collective, organizing events with renowned artists. In 2017, he launched his career as Designa, gaining recognition in the Psytrance circuit and organizing the South Nature Festival, sharing the stage with major artists.  As an international DJ, he has contributed to the growth of the Psytrance scene in Spain and remains a key figure. Today, he focuses on promotion, event organization, and continues to lead Skizodelic Mind, a prominent collective in the music scene.

Purple Hexagon Records founder and manager, Dj Kikx has been exploring dancefloors around the world for more than 20 years. He made his first steps as a psytrance dj at the beginning of the 2000’s, collaborating with different labels and playing at events in Europe, India and Nepal. In 2008 he started Purple Hexagon Records, with the aim to promote music and artists from different areas of the world who shared the same idea of spreading underground psytrance music with passion, active involvement and a laid-back, humble approach.
Kikx’ passion for travelling and psytrance has brought him to play in some of the most popular and some of the most remote places on Earth, from small festivals in the high altitude deserts of Ladakh to private islands in Indonesia and beach tribal gatherings in Panama. Over the years, he has shared the decks with experienced artists of the scene as well as with enthusiastic locals who approached psytrance for the very first time, teaching dj skills and introducing many young and less young people to the sound of psytrance.

Through Purple Hexagon, Kikx has had the opportunity to expose less known artists to the international scene, and Purple Hexagon representatives are now a constant presence at worldwide major festivals of this genre, where they are distinguished by a specific style and attitude.

Along with keeping the label up and running, Kikx dedicates his time to the exploration of psytrance and downtempo music, collecting a selection of tracks he uses to create unforgettable experiences during his sets.

Dj Kikx’ style fully reflects the sound of Purple Hexagon Records: pumping, rolling, dynamic twilight and night psytrance that keeps the crowd dancing and stomping.
Messenger of a genre originating from the deep roots of underground psychedelic sounds, Kikx also loves exploring slower soundscapes spanning across psychedelic downtempo and electronic music.

Based between Italy and Indonesia, Kikx is available for gigs around the world, happy to share his smile and pumping music with psytrance aficionados of any age and culture.

For this release, Staunch has gathered up a squad of heavy-hitting household favourites including Chamberlain, Cheshire, Beat Fatigue, Kalya Scintilla, Evil Oil Man, Whitebear and Austero to remix their work.

Wedged in the middle of this smorgasbord of aural goodness is Staunch’s VIP of their track Alpha Mode. Unsurprisingly, the final result is a loaded mixtape of whomp, funk and groove inspired remixes.

Jose Hermosin (AKASH), nacido en Sevilla en 1980, es un referente de la música electrónica en España, con una carrera que abarca más de 25 años de evolución sonora. Desde sus primeros pasos en el mundo del Break Beat e iniciándose como Dj aprendiendo con vinilos a finales de los 90, su pasión por la cultura electrónica fue creciendo de forma natural. En 2009, AKASH se introduce en el mundo del Psychedelic Tech Funk (Psybreak), un género que lo cautiva profundamente. A partir de ahí, su carrera comienza a tomar forma, consolidándose como uno de los artistas más representativos de la escena Psytrance de Andalucía.

En 2012, se dedica de lleno a la producción musical y, en 2013, forma junto a dos amigos el colectivo ARRYTHMIK, centrado en el mismo estilo y con el que se convierte en un nombre conocido dentro de la escena nacional. Desde entonces, ha colaborado en numerosos eventos por toda España y Europa, organizando fiestas con artistas y DJs de renombre. En 2013, su talento es reconocido por el sello Tek. Records, lo que le permite llevar su música a salas de todo el continente, destacando en festivales internacionales como el Ritual Festival en Estambul (Turquía) y el Taurus Connection Festival en Italia, compartiendo escenario con artistas como Too Dusty, Forufreezer, Hedflux y Z4thoichi.
