Akasha FX is the production project of Reel Me Records label owner Kris Townsend, already he has over 20 releases out under this name with tracks licensed to major TV and Films such as CSI and Nikita, he also has been championed by Eddie Temple Morris and such. With this track he brings in not only the vocal talents of Trinidadian Singer 'Coreysan' but now also the cello of J Rokka and remix duties of Jon Kennedy, soon to be release on Reel Me Records, here is a taster.

Akasha FX - Slave Of Time (Jon Kennedy Remix) (PROMO)

Seventhly is a new project from Singer Kesty Morrison & Bristol producer Sir Beans O.B.E. This, their debut E. P. release 'Sleep Quietly' is taken from the forthcoming LP 'Of Sound Mind' and gives a small taste of things to come. Its sound is based, fundamentally, on raw, brash Hip-Hop beats and classic sampling techniques, with some of Beans' DJ'ing skills, for extra effect. The soulful and gentle vocals of Kesty Morrison contradicts it perfectly to create a unique sound which is experimental, edgy, passionate yet subtle and unpredictable. 
'Sleep Quietly' starts proceedings with some high-powered percussion and a sinister piano backdrop, while 'Make Your Wish' is a down-tempo, ethereal trip, taking us through to 'Nothing to Hold' which finalises the E.P. with a sharp poke to the eardrums.

Over the years he has played his part as the D.J. and producer for local groups such as Transcript Carriers (who later became Parlour Talk), Undivided Attention and a list of collaborations, including, Portishead, Def Tex, Aspects, London Hip Hop giants - Gunshot, and RCA Records artist, Jem. His turntable and production skills have gained him recognition across the UK.

ABOUT THE RELEASE

Even though their previous release White Space is still making waves in the media industry and is hot on the playlists of A-list music supervisors and radio programmers, the superduo return with yet another fantastic EP. It is their forth for Filter and probably has the biggest potential to cross over to the mainstream and daytime radio. Still, that surely doesn’t mean Akasha FX have lost their edge.

The title track creates a surreal atmosphere beginning with a long build up showcasing the vocal talents of Jenny Bell. Once the breakdown hits you, you realize you have been caught in the distinctive Akasha FX web of sounds. Frances Mary returns on Filter with her contribution to the dubbed-out funk of Get Down. It is easy to imagine its nasty slow groove blasting on a sweaty secret party under a clear blue sky.

Req on the other hand serves as a witness to the various musical interests and influences of this duo. It reminds us of the best Plastikman works but upgraded to version 2012. Finaly, the last surprise arrives in the form of Soul Power, an ambient piece layered over a pulsating bass that creeps on you slowly and stays in your subconsciousness forever.

Akasha FX is the production partnership of Kristian Townsend and Darren Beale. As well as Akasha FX, both Kristian and Darren also produce the breakbeat project ‘Ways And Means’ together which has made a solid name for itself since it first came onto the scene as well as being part of Kosheen and Kosheen DJ’s which needs no introduction.

You are probably well aware how much we love Akasha FX and their diverse musical output. It looks like this amazing duo can't stop delivering fantastic tunes and at the same time they keep things interesting by constantly changing their sound. Slave Of Time offers two vocal songs done in collaboration with the great singer Coreysan. The result is pure magic! Not only Akasha FX have drawn their most introspective soundscapes, but the tight interaction with Coreysan is something that is not often found on records with vocalists who are not a steady member of the band. Both songs have the energy and spirit of Massive Attack's collaborations with Horace Andy and it is just enough to make us start imagining the Akasha FX - Coreysan relationship taken to the next level. Until then, we will have these tunes on repeat.
