For the third release on Storming Dub Records we are proud to have on our roster one of the more talented dub producer from France: WEEDING DUB.
He's well-known for a good amount of killer dubs released over the years which have been played all over Europe
and beyond from the biggest Sound Systems on the scene.
This tune has been inspired from the current situation of illegal immigration as the
producer himself told us:

"Some weeks ago, I was working with musicians in the south of France, close to the Italian border with the Alps mountains.
I was there during one week and the musicians explained to me that many people from Africa get there on foot through the
Alps from Italy to France. "Illegal" immigration, you know..
One day, we were smoking a cigarette outside between 2 rehearsals, and we see an african youth arrive,
straight from the mountains.
It was very cold outside, the guy was wearing a t-shirt, a short, and small shoes...
We spoke with him, we fed him, his name was Mohammed, he was 24 and came from Africa.
He explained to me that he started his trip on foot 5 YEARS AGO to try to change his life in Europe.
So, the tune is livicated to this guy, and all "illegal" migrants."

Subsquad Prod present the ninth part of our serie of compilations, the CITY SQUAD. Each part presents the dub makers of a city (and its surroundings) through a compilation of exclusive tunes available for free download.

After Bordeaux, Grenoble, Marseille, Lille, Rennes, Dijon/Besançon, Avignon, and "Grand Est", this new part is dedicated to Nantes, and presents 16 producers from this area.

The artwork is realized by Irie Design, the mastering by Subsquad Prod.

Vaughn Benjamin, the voice of Midnite and Akae Beka, is one of the most prolific reggae lyricists of the modern era. He was a scholar, poet and teacher. He released over 80 albums in a 25-year period.

In late October of 2019, Vaughn travelled to Grass Valley, CA to record at Ras Biblical’s studio, Trinity Farm. Earlier this year, the album “Living Testament” album was released from those sessions.

Yet, there’s more to this story! In Biblical’s words:

“THE AKAE BEKA SCROLLS manifested through the creative brilliance of Vaughn Benjamin as super-producer magnetizing the musicians to this inity of spirit and mind, calling on all skillfulness. These 12 dubs are a sound of veteran players of instruments inna oneness and brothers inna oneness across the whole earth! Coming together for a reason, each dub precisely directed by Vaughn. With humbleness each musician brought to life in real time such harmony and powers, this music is the reason, the cream of the crop.”

The day after Living Testament was recorded, Vaughn advised that he wanted to record some riddims. An all-star team gathered, including:

• Ras Pulse - drums & percussions
• Scott Davis - drums
• Kenyatta Itola - bass
• Ryan ‘Ishence’ Willard – guitars
• Manuel ‘Go A Chant’ Guerra - keys, bass & percussion
• Ras Kemo - percussion
• Vaughn - synth, whistle & percussion

Vaughn laid out his creative vision by humming what he wanted each musician to play. Each dub was composed and directed by Vaughn.

THE AKAE BEKA SCROLLS is a unique album in the discography of Akae Beka. It’s an instrumental album with several interludes of Vaughn singing and playing acoustic guitar. The beautiful cover artwork was created by Marcus Wilson.
