Twinkling, delay-drenched, heart-squeezing melodies drift and dance among pot & pan percussion lines, warm, tape-treated kicks and grumbling Oberheimer synth and bass meddlings. After two hugely successful outings on Distant Hawaii, Hidden Spheres cruises into Lobster Theremin waters with four sun soaked and heart meltingly infectious slices of his trademark soothing and late night house. 

EP opener ‘It Ain’t Easy’ sets the mood in a deeply meditative style. Rolling and natural drum patterns intertwine with playful melodies and soothing vocals, slowly shifting the sand across the beach as the sun slides over the horizon.

‘IshOnSax’ takes its lead from the windy city, a love story to 90s Chicago house, featuring some of the most contagious saxophone ever laid to wax courtesy of Ishmael. As the evening settles in and the office lights grow dim, the neon and intrigue of the night take hold.

The B-side kicks into gear with ‘The Feels’ an understated and raw house number that wears its heart on its chest. As a new dawn breaks the urgency of life stirs once again, sound-tracked by a never-ending rollercoaster of emotion that blankets the earth. 

Closing out the release is ‘It’s Gonna Last’ a melting pot of swirling sounds, field recordings and playful drum programming. A street performer takes their final bow as hoards of busy humans hurry to their next meeting spot.

B2 Disrupted Project - Zbrejkana

Lastly, B2 brings somewhat unusual sound for Disrupted Project but nothing short of a breakbeat/offbeat smasher. Probably the most dynamic track from EP, "Zbrejkana" is a plunge into broken and offset drums filled with peeling percussions. Riddled with numerous cuts and mini breaks, the track rapidly evolves in a complex and relentless dance of a rigid rhythm and soft synth sequence with no headroom to spare. Although "Zbrejkana" is constantly changing its form, it never stops (aside from a short break) to pound throughout the whole distance.

On the flipside, "Suburbia" is an electro delicacy obviously inspred by detroit style. The track cleverly combines 808 and 606 elements. Starting with a clean pad, it goes into motion with lfo sequence quickly followed by mellow synth that resembles a morning riser. With this one, Disrupted Project manages to convey his love for "Motor City" and does it in a spot-on fashion.

Although keeping that dirty feel and even pushing it a notch further, Basic Soul Unit breathes a somewhat more melodic feel into the original track. He manages to take the original synth in a multi note sequence that builds a detroit-esque aesthetic, especially when deep pad rises from the background. Almost entire remix is reconstructed with the original sounds, further acknowledging Basic Soul Unit as a long term quality producer with a diverse feel for electronic music in general. Hats off!

When translated, "Velika Soba" literally stands for "Big Room". And it gives exactly that, large space banger with distorted and dirty elements but retaining a massive low end. Offset breaks saturated with punching snare give room for dark and filtered shots that slowly creeps in and steer the track into banging techno, perfect for filling those sweat spots on the floor!
