Grotesco is a piece dedicated to grotesque art, where comedy and tragedy radiate from the same sound—or combination of sounds. Strong contrasts, irrational sounds, and the coexistence of the familiar and the imaginary take place throughout the composition, exploring not only their separate existence but also creating something alien within the familiar. The goal is to make the audience oscillate between laughter and unease.
Enhancing this idea, I experiment with micromodulated phrases, extreme panning, and combinations of textures.


Grotesco

My name is A. Kazantzis, and I am a composer of electronic and electroacoustic music. Currently in the final year of my studies at the Ionian University, I have composed works of tape music, engaged in electronic improvisation, and collaborated with other musicians in live performances. At this stage, my main focus is music programming, with a particular emphasis on Max/MSP. Through music programming, I seek to explore the balance between the spontaneity of improvisation and the structure of composition, creating open works that remain flexible, capable of taking new forms beyond the sole hand of the composer.
