Long overdue for a vinyl pressing, Kenny Dope’s extended mix of “Shy As A Butterfly” by The Mighty Sceptres is now available on a proper 7in. The B-side features a killer dance floor-ready cumbia rework of “Nothing Seems To Work Right” by Spark Arrester.

With a well-received debut album under their belt and notable song placements in shows such as Ray Donovan on Showtime,   The Mighty Sceptres drop a new 7in single featuring Kenny Dope’s extended mix of “Shy As A Butterfly”, previously only available as a bonus on their digital album. With collectors, record shops, and fans alike clamoring for a vinyl version, the 7in was hands down the preferred format of choice. Hailing from Blacksburg VA where he’s been a mainstay of the local music scene and purveyor of all things funky, Spark Arrester’s cumbia rework is a perfect fit on the B-side rounding out a single that’s sure to keep bodies moving on the dance floor all summer long and beyond.

A couple weeks ago a good friend of Sweater Funk, Seth Kolski, passed away. We invited him to guest DJ with us back in the Li Po basement as well as the Knockout many times, including coming out to play with us on his last birthday. Those of us in the crew that knew him considered him to be a family member. On Sunday July 24th, 2016 we recorded this live tribute mix of some of his favorite songs, songs he put us up on back in the basement, tracks we geeked over when he guested, songs we texted back and forth about, and tracks he always used to play on his long running Sweet Power radio show (KUSP Santa Cruz, 2006-2015), etc.  We hope you enjoy this mix and remember Seth Kolski (August 23rd, 1975 - July 19th, 2016).  Hopefully we'll try to get some more of his legendary mixes posted online. We're gonna miss ya homie.

Co-founder and member of the bands Due Dillagence and OJ KUSH as well as the label and collective Condensed Milk, Amin Payne aka Teymori presents his new tape with the same name: The G-Funk Tape.

Dedicated to G-Funk, a subgenre of Westcoast rap from the 1990s, The G-Funk Tape is definitely a collective project. Motivated by the wishes of his fellow dancers, it was at their request the artist decided to create the tape, thus paying tribute to the Hip-Hop movement.
Putting his heart into his work, he invites a horde of producers and international singers to join him on this adventure. Among them, 10tendo, OJ KUSH, Unda, Cazeaux O.S.L.O & Azriel, Billy Hoyle or First Touch.

A true return to the roots, we find all the favorite instruments of the genre: aerial synthesizers, generous basses, talk boxes and iconic samples; so many elements allowing us to change context, to finally find ourselves in the middle of the Californian 90’s .
